status of Sproul investigation?
this story says:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/10/14/politics/main649380.shtml

"Officials in Oregon have launched a criminal investigation after receiving numerous complaints that a Republican-affiliated group was destroying registration forms filed by Democratic voters statewide, Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury told CBSNews.com. "

I haven't seen any updates on the investigation since the election. Does anyone know anything?

It would be nice to see some convictions here, especially now that we've broken the ice in NH.

thanks
gary

1. Have you posted this in the Oregon forum?
You might get a response since threads don't sink as fast there. Just remember to check back periodically since an answer won't show up after 48 hours. Just a suggestion.

5. OR: State Rep. Dan Doyle resigned from the Legislature
01-31-05

"
SALEM -- State Rep. Dan Doyle resigned from the Legislature on Monday, one week after state officials began investigating whether he diverted campaign money to personal use and falsified his campaign finance report.....

Doyle had been the champion of the fiscally conservative, no-new-taxes wing of the House GOP caucus .... co-chairman of the Legislature's budget-writing committee.

... Vendors to whom Doyle reported paying campaign funds show that he overstated campaign spending by at least $60,000.

The secretary of state is investigating whether Doyle diverted that money to personal use, which is a civil offense carrying a maximum $75 fine for first offenses.......

Doyle's wife, Victoria Doyle, may face similar questions about possible diversion of campaign money to personal use in connection with her unsuccessful run for Marion County clerk... two weeks after losing that race, Victoria Doyle wrote two large checks with remaining campaign funds.

8. does the investigation die with Doyle gone?

Was Doyle the only one running the investigation into Sproul? Is the investigation over now? Seems like the SOS was involved in the investigation too and he's still around.

4. Would like to know the status of Sproul in Nevada also.
It does appear that, in Oregon and Nevada, we have witnesses who can testify that voter registration forms for Democrats were discarded or destroyed. I also hope these folks get strung up, since I registered lots of folks in Tennessee too and did so in a non-partisan manner.

It's the Repugs who don't want all Americans to vote, not us small "d"-loving democrats. Hang 'em high!

6. Criminal conduct concern extends to Arizon and Ohio too.
Sproul and Associates was headquartered in Arizona, and he lives in Chandler, a PHX burb. They were paid a big sum by RNC.

This investigation should be carried out across the Republic, Nationally, and not by the Committee. We need independent prosecutors again.

9. What are the chances of getting independent prosecutors?
I can't help but wonder how many provisional ballots (that most likely ended up not being counted) were directly attributable to this crime.
