2. 5 steps ahead
Karl is known for thinking a few moves ahead. Anyone think his sudden coming out from behind the puppet master curtain foretells of him becoming a public figure. Maybe even running for office himself, or at least grabbing control of the Republican party officially.

18. You are so absolutely correct, dbonds
Thus bush going to Camp David and Rove being front and center doing damage control to the American public.

Oh, yes, the GOP is full of itself right now. And the mouth of Sauron, if not Sauron himself, is on display for all to see.

3. He used his own data! He knew the results in advance

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3987237.stm

Early exit polls quoted by media seemed to give Mr Kerry the edge, but colleagues said Mr Rove indicated right away that they did not tally with his information.

He used his own data to put Ohio and Florida in the Bush column - bringing cheers from the president and his family when he went into the Roosevelt Room and told them

5. He "went into his 'batcave' and made some calls"---
and then the numbers started to go up, is how it happened watching MSNBC. They said he was calling to do some last minute getting out of the vote. Yeah right!

7. here's the kernel -- save this for future reference
"He set up computers in the Old Family Dining Room and started tabulating results. He had set up a massive network of contacts, not just in state capitals, but individual districts and precincts to monitor turnout and support.

Mr Rove may spin the news, but the media still wants to hear him
Early exit polls quoted by media seemed to give Mr Kerry the edge, but colleagues said Mr Rove indicated right away that they did not tally with his information.

He used his own data to put Ohio and Florida in the Bush column - bringing cheers from the president and his family when he went into the Roosevelt Room and told them.

And when the TV networks gave either Ohio or Nevada to Mr Bush but not both - which would have led him to be declared as the winner - Mr Rove was one of the president's aides who got on the phone to news chiefs to try to pressure them to change their minds."

23. He must have been watching "Topic A" with Dr. Dean
Bev Harris showed Dr. Dean how to change votes once they're in the Diebold tabulation program ... He put out the word and had the election changed, I swear it.

9. You are misreading the BBC article. It says Rove looked at his own data,
and gave Florida and Ohio to bush. He then told bush. The article does not say that he called the media and had them overrule the exit polls. Rove thought they were winning the states, even when the exit polls said they were losing, because the actual returns by county that he was getting was good news for bush.

Of course, all this is a Rovian misinformation campaign. He knew they would win Florida and Ohio because he knew they would be fixed.

16. What's this about???
"The 2004 presidential election was the last political campaign for Mr Bush. But for the architect of the success - who saw his president elected by the most people ever and with increased Republican majorities in House and Senate - who knows. "

(emphasis mine)

19. It means that bush got more votes than Reagan. Ha, ha, so did Kerry!
The Radical Right-Wing Republicans are making a big deal about Bush beating Reagan's popular vote record he set in 1984 (54,455,075 votes) but, so did John Kerry (55,796,152)!

20. I Think Rove Was Reading "Herman Goering"
"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

-- Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials
