It speaks for itself. You will want to be in a quiet place (with tissues nearby).

16. If I didn't know better
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 12:51 AM by seventythree
I would have sworn someone had pilfered from my husband's Nam slides -- the "graphic" ones are straight from our collection, and we have even worse -- I even called hubby in to say -- what does this look like? And he had to do a double take. We used to show them to high schoolers during Nam -- on huge screens -- the burly football types would faint dead away. I agree that the original poster's pics were beautiful and we love all our soldiers and pray for their safe return, no matter the war, no matter our disagreement with it, but when we romanticize it, as that top linked pics do, we perpetuate a lie -- war is not romantic, it is horrific!

17. Wow, that is really tough to take.
It's amazing how none of this gets seen by the general public. Do you know how many soldiers have written me thanking me for the truth bands..... it makes me cry, I feel so ridiculous and small that they are so happy to have them. I wish I could do more. This is not a plug for the bands, please don't post the link right now. I just need to get off my chest how touched I am that something so small is giving some of them hope, I never in a million years would have thought that. I actually feel smaller as a result. Maybe there is some place I could donate that gives care baskets to soldiers over there? That is if I can actually sell enough to make a difference. I'm going to re-do the site in the next couple of days and I'm doing a press release. I guess one way to make a difference is to become passionate about fund raising. Thanks for listening. Kick butt tomorrow! I hope you don't freeze!

5. Don't neglect to view this one too...
It also speaks for itself.

It proves that 'there is nothing new under the sun'. The lyrics, which seem so perfectly suited to the images, were written over 30 years ago.

6. Loses a bit of impact
without the pictures of dogs gnawing on human remains and the US soldiers in bodybags.

I'm not sure what the aim of this piece is; I certainly want our troops home, I have no beef with that. I'm just wondering what the person who put this together was trying to convey.

Made me wonder even more when I saw Free Republic pop up in a Google search about the host site, Clermont Yellow.

12. The intent of this clip was a decent one,
This message accompanied the link:

"Our God given Freedoms are under attack in the halls of Congress and by certain members of this Administration. Pray to your God that Congress will stand strong in the defense of Freedom, and the God will raise up leaders all across our nation who will also defend Freedom. Our battle for Freedom does not now demand the sacrifice of life or limb. However, it does demand some time and attention to what is going on in our nation's capital. Eternal vigilance is the price of Liberty, and we must pay that price. We must be willing to make that phone call, write that letter, sign that petition, and be conversant with what our Senators and Representative are doing. Our children and grandchildren will rise up and call us blessed, or damn us for cowards, based on the actions we take in defense of Freedom!

18. Interesting platforms and beliefs listed at that link
"Our new National Platform, in its first introduction point, states, " We believe that Jesus Christ is the God of our land; that we are fundamentally a Christian nation; and that only by faith in and obedience to God shall we be preserved as a great nation."

"But I'm afraid your Mommy's love does not reach to the precious little body and soul that burns with love and trust inside her. For she is a liberated woman. She insists on the right to her own body. And you have not come at a convenient time. So your little voice will never cry or be heard; those little lips will never smile; those little hands will never feel or grasp. In fact, your little body will not be allowed to form at all. You will never get to play with those little brothers and sisters. They will never know you even existed. Oh, if your Mommy would only let you live -- many are aching to have and love someone like you."

"Powerful influences in politics, education, and the media promote homosexuality as good, normal, and natural. According to Dr. Brad Hoyton, The Homosexual Agenda: Homosexuals account for only a few percent of the population. Yet, they are responsible for 50% of all acts of child molestation. Children are often the prime targets of homosexual recruitment because they can be more easily forced or persuaded."

And when I say interesting, what I mean to say is CRAP.

dmac, I believe you truly meant well in passing this along; supporting our troops and bringing them home is a message we all believe in, but I think we need to look carefully into who the messenger is before forwarding their propaganda. Honestly, I'm not trying to criticize you; just wanting to make it clear where this video is coming from.

22. I liked the sequence. It's one aspect of what's happening. The other
pics portray a deeper truth. Nevertheless, you don't need to say sorry to me. This was not a war promoting piece, it was a pro-soldier piece. And, which of you noticed the soldier reading "Going Up River." Gee, I think the artist was making a POINT!!!

Thanks for the link and thanks to everyone else for their links.

Now, can we all hold hands and say the Serenity Prayer!

11. Thanks for all of the other links from all of you and
you are absolutely right - they all speak for themselves - though some were certainly more horrific than others. I think the thing that moved me most about this one was (yes, as someone said) they were beautiful photographs, and the music was hauntingly beautiful - and somehow it all captured the loneliness of our troops, what they must feel in their bones, and while yes, terrible tragedy befalls many of them, the whole of every single day must be a trial in itself. Of course it pales in comparison to those tormented by injury and loss, but I just felt this captured something --- somehow a bit different.

God, I just wish we could bring them all home - now.

21. The film you showed was haunting. We tend to forget that...
these people are also victims of this war. Many very good men and women trying to find some good in the insanity that surrounds them. It made me cry. The combination of the different views only compounds the fact that on both sides of this war there are HUMAN BEINGS. : / I am so sad today.

24. I am sorry - how are you feeling today?
It has been extremely tough. I see a few good things posted out here but I have a hard time holding on to them. It is difficult not to be sad and despair. But at least there were a couple of positives and maybe someday soon, they will outnumber the bad. Good luck.

23. Right! And they're most certainly not to damn happy to be there
all this time. These are people who seek order and firm and fair leadership. This all volunteer force was built up over time (by people like Wes Clark) and it has many positives. To throw away this treasure of trust on the part of these men and women on a war that is reckless and futile is the ultimate disgrace for a national leader. Of course, the betrayal of the reserves and the guard is even more outrageous. Who will volunteer for those organizations knowing you can be yanked away for a year or two, forced into severe personal and financial hardship, and not given any hand at all by your Repuke government.

This is a real shame!
