Just got back from the march/rally on Capitol Hill, Ask Me Anything!
Hey all. I just got home from the rally. It started at Lafayette Park at 10, where Maxine Waters, Medea Benjamin (sp?), Cliff Arnebeck, and Jesse Jackson spoke. Then we marched to the Capitol. There were a few hundred people or so. Jesse Jackson's speech was inspiring.

It's strange...I'm seeing that only Senator Boxer challenged here, but they announced at the rally that Sen. Boxer would be joined by Obama, Reid, Dodd, and a handful of others, around 6 or so. I need to check my video, but I could have sworn Rep. Waters herself said this. I'm not sure why they announced that if it did not transpire.

I was feeling kind of shy, and didn't ask around to meet other DU'ers. I'm sure a few of the people there were from DU though. I wasn't near a computer last night, so I wasn't sure if there was a signal to let others know who we were. I would be happy to describe myself to others who were there through PM.

The rally on Capitol Hill with Re-Defeat Bush is still happening at this moment, but after a few speakers, my toes were going numb, and I decided to retreat home to find out what was going on, because the updates we were getting were sparse and because it is warm here.

At any rate, I'm glad that we got a Senator, and hopefully this will shed some light on the issue.

6. Only Tubbs signed the challenge from the House. 1 House and 1 Senate.

5. Still recharging the camera, and I don't have my own website
from which to post a link. And it looks like DU is severely impaired at the moment, so I'm not sure pics will even display.

There were at least a dozen or so people there with video cameras (most of whom probably were better at it than I), so I'm sure video of it will come out when more people get back.

8. Mainly indie media, it seemed. There were no live uplinks, for sure.

Like I said, a few hundred people.

At the height of the march, it looked like we could have had about 500 of us.

We paraded down Pennsyvania Ave, by the Canadian Embassy and the Archives and Old Post Office Pavilion.

There were lots of office workers looking out their windows quizzically at us. One tourist trolley started chanting with us. It was pretty cool.

edited for spelling

10. The new story: We're doomed and this was a total waste of time
At least, that is what DU says.

Bleh to that.

11. Amen. I thought it went extremely well.
To the people boo-hooing here, please know that the outpouring of support for this action through your phone calls was repeatedly mentioned in the speeches today.

You made a huge difference.

Like Howard Dean says, change comes slowly. You have to be in it for the long haul.

I am proud of what happened today. I think we all should be.
