Hopefully I will be dead wrong about the objection being a negative for Democrats. Time will tell about that and I would be more than happy to apologize if I am wrong. In fact, I would relish apologizing under those circumstances.

But the one thing that has stood out in my mind throughout this entire affair is the courage and determination of John Conyers. Man, I'd give anything for a congressman like him.

5. Riiiiiiiiight........in what magical land is this the case?
Doing the right thing at the right time cannot be wrong for dems? Morally perhaps. Politically? Never.

2. At what point would you support an objection?
We can't wait until they have totally destroyed the Democratic side of the isle before objecting.
There are rules in place for such an event and IMO, if there is any questing to the legitimacy of an election, it should be discussed and investigated to the fullest extent possible and this is just one tool used to help that process.
The Reich Wing is going to paint anything the Democrats do as bad for the Democrats, that is what they have done for years and will continue to do until we all stand up and say enough.

3. I've expressed the same sentiment
I'll gladly apologize if the refusal to certify brings the subject of election reform to the fore in a way that draws the public into supporting it.

"Expediency asks the question: Is it politic?
Vanity asks the question: Is it popular?
But conscience asks the question: Is it right?
And there comes a time one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic nor popular... but one must take it simply because it is right.”

11. My guess is a backlash
but I don't think it will happen!

I don't believe that * won fair and square

this at least will be a chance for the country to see that possibility and to have the MSM get off their arses and investigate!

13. A negative for Democrats? In whose eyes? Are you oblivious?
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 10:05 AM by higher class
In Republican eyes? Why would you care about that? They are doing their best to destroy Democrats and Independents. They are not going to make it easier for representatives or even a baby.

In the eyes of citizens? Do you know how long it takes they to open their eyes? Once they do, do you think they are going to think like Junior, Dick, Falwell, Feith, Rumsfeld and all of those criminals?

In the eyes of the world?

My God!

It's time for heros, not prostrated followers.

And it's a damn shame that we have to think in terms of heros - we should be talking plain constitutional citizen responsibility.

I agree with you, and I love repeating this phrase from the Black Caucus the day before yesterday.
