Stop playing right into the GOPs hands
All these anti-Kerry threads are doing just that. Just like the ABB, Anti-Bush rhetoric that helped Smirky steal the election. I agree with the last poster, we need to show some unity here.

1. Unity? Ah, very good, grasshopper!

I propose that we win elections 6 times a year! (Seriously!)

This is America, right?

Here's what we can do:

3. tom delay unity?
or unity behind a simple idea- that the constitutional right to vote should be considered a sacred repsonsibility, sworn to by every last senator when they take the oath of office. and that the dems, in unity, should all stand up and say the constitution is worth fighting for.

and kerry should be one of those standing up.

is that heresy?

frankly, i've voted for him for senator every time he's run. and as a constituent, i want his ass on the senate floor rising to force a debate on enfranchisement.

is that playing into republican hands, or expecting better representation from my own senator than he sees fit to give at this time...

i can't escape the idea that because he is failing to rise here, at the request ofd thousands of his own constituents here in Massachusetts, his reasons are primarily political.

in massachusetts, we deserve better.

and the voters deserve better from someone under oath to preserve and protect the constitution.

11. You have every right to post this!
And a lot of us agree with you. I, for one, don't like to lay blame on anyone until all the facts are in. And even then I don't "like" to lay blame....Thank you for your viewpoint.

17. poli-
kerry bashing? i never even mentioned his name. i did assert that he is my senator, and that i thought as a constituent i had a right to get reperesentation from him on this issue.

he spent the last two years running for president and missing a lot of votes. i'm glad he did. i think he and we were jobbed.

but really. asking my own senator to do what i elected him, and he swore an oath to do, is bashing?

instead of taking the pipe, challenge my arguments. tell me where i'm wrong.

You should be lucky to have him as your senator. He would be an improvement over our senator Frist anyday.

24. THIS IS YELLING
this is not. and i agree, dog sh*t would be an improvement over frist. my empathy goes out to you.

and i'm glad kerry ran for president, i think he has the potential to be a roosevelt. he's been a very good senator, a strong investigator. and has worked with courage and dignity on a lot of issues.

he has also made some gawdawful votes. like they all have. as much as i idolize wellstone, and i met and worked with him several times, he was also sitting in the gallery when the bcc asked for a sentaor to challenge 2000. but we all know that if St. Paul were still alive, he'd be the first to jump up this time.

but are you suggesting that i hold my senator to a different standard than you would your own senator?

Rallying around the hero is not. Sorry. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely (remember civics?). It is so pathetic that our arguments are now rally round the flag. You have to believe people!

19. The Dem "leadership" are timid and afraid to get beat up on again by
the Repubs and Media, who clearly are reluctant to attack Repubs but don't have similar inhibition regarding Dems. Although Gore clearly won Florida by a lot, in terms of legal votes even without chad counting, the Repubs were able to beat up on him and Dems hugely and hurt the Dems popularity using their well moneyed spin machine.

21. I don't hold anything against Kerry, b/c at this time I
don't know all the facts of what he may or may not be doing, etc. I get the feeling he does care. If that feeling is borne out, I'll be very happy. I voted for him, and would vote for him again--UNLESS he completely ignored the fraud issue, and rolled over and played dead for the republicans. (But I don't think he'd do that.)

But... you don't approve of anti-Bush rhetoric b/c it helps Bush? I have a hard time agreeing with that. I'm sorry, but I have to vent my feelings about this evil man somewhere, somehow. I DID feel sympathetic to the idea of "anybody but Bush"... still do... but realistically, I know that I would NOT take "anybody but Bush": for example, I would not accept (ugh) Frist in Bush's stead, I would not accept Hastert in Bush's stead, I would not accept Cheney (though we're stuck with him for now), I would emphatically not accept Schwarzenegger... the list goes on.
