George Bush's 8 Million New Votes Found – STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

By Alastair Thompson - Co-Editor http://scoop.co.nz
(exclusively so far.. on DU..)

In an earlier thread I discussed the issue of Where Did * Suddenly Get 8 Million New Voters.... To recap this is important because:

"If you think about it , had the Bush Cheney campaign really signed up 8 million odd new republican voters... wouldn't they have been telling us about it for the past six months. Yelling it on the front page of every newspaper. Somewhere in the election statistics is the answer to a simple question. Where were Bush's 8 million new voters..-. find them and you find where this election was stolen.

WHAT I DID
Noticing that nobody was really taking a lot of notice of my ramblings I decided to take a closer look. The raw data is below and I will post an excel spreadsheet of this online soon so people can fill in the gaps (this is really a bit of a work in progress as is the DU tradition). I picked and chose my states on the basis of where I thought it likely that the votes came from and stopped when I got to 90% of the vote difference this only took 31 states.

FINDINGS

1. Bush did not pick up any vote at all on the West Coast.. in fact he lost ground in both Washington and California. This is interesting as this is arguably where the BBV machine manufacturers have been receiving the most heat. However it could reflect a relative lack of interest in so-called "moral issues" out west.

2. The five states I picked on the basis that they are known to have lots of voting machines (and particularly Diebold machines) had a significantly higher percentage increase in bush voters than average… 25% compared to 17% nationally.

3. Likewise the swing states also had a higher average rate of new bush voters at 21%. This however might be expected as they also had much more active campaigns.

4. Among the 31 states I examined were three big democratic states NY, NJ and IL. I selected them on a hunch because a) they are unlikely to be suspected of being used in a vote rigging exercise, but b) necessary to include if you want to achieve a large across the board popular vote gain that does not look too suspicious. These three states averaged a 21% vote gains for Bush and NJ and NY achieved around 25%. However between them they contributed 1.7 million new bush votes, or nearly 20% of Bush's total vote gain.

5. The remainder of my selection of states is broadly defined as "red states", they averaged 20% in terms of voting gain for bush. Notably both Kansas and Utah achieved % gains for bush below the national average. I am guessing here but I would have thought both states were "moral issue" based voter heavy.

DISTRIBUTION OF THE VOTES

6. In sheer numeric terms Bush gained far and away the most votes in Texas and Florida, 900k and 700k respectively.

7. 60% of all Bushes new votes, 5.2 million votes, were gained in just 11 states…FL, TX. NY, OH, PA, GA, MI, NJ, TN, NC, IL

8. Add in another 8 states and you get to 82% of all bush's new votes or 7.1 million… the states are WI MN IND AL OK KY AZ LOU & MD

9. Put another way 7.1 million votes or 82% of bushes gain was achieved in states totalling 65% of the popular vote. Within these states he achieved an average vote gain of an astonishing 23%.

10. 92% of the vote gain is found in the 31 states I selected data for.

11. The rate of bush vote growth in the remaining 20 states was just 5% on average.

12. In percentage terms Florida and Georgia (both heavily Diebold equipment using states) were the standouts with 32% gains respectively.

13. In percentage terms five other states showed more than 25% growth in the bush vote, in ascending order they were Arizona, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Of these AZ, NM and OK both recently upgraded their machines to new tech machines. NJ and TN also both use computerised voting machines, albeit older models.

110. Question on finding stats
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 10:59 PM by CAcyclist
Dumb question:

Where can I find the stats to these questions?

% each race historically vote per party - change in percent this year

Michael Moore said 88% of Bush's number were from white voters. Where does this number come from?
I am trying to see if the total number is outside of statistical probability but I don't know where to go.

52. There is no Point anymore!
All the elections are predetermined. They stole 2000 and now they stole 2004. We will never have a free election again. The Christian Re-constructionist have been planning this since 1974. They are in power and they will never leave. They will run our country on fear and hate forever. The exit polls and all the pollsters all predicted a victory for Kerry. People do not register in record numbers, stand in the pouring rain to keep business as usual. No one's vote was counted, it was decided in advance what the outcome would be. We do not live in a democracy and we have not since 2000. Greg Palast wrote a very good article about this:

http://www.tompaine.com/articles/what_happened_in_ohio.php

There is another respected author and journalist Mark Crispin Miller made an excellent DVD called 'A Patriot Act' It explains the Christian Re-constructionists here is a trailer for it:

http://www.patriotnation.us/main.html

My heart and spirit are broken, I will never vote again, there is no point in fighting anymore, it's over, they have won. I am looking into ways to move to Ireland.

64. Fight what?
The President, Congress, the Supreme court? When we do and we won (as we clearly did Tues.) They refuse to leave, the change the votes to keep themselves in, they will never give up the power again. They are all ruled by the Christian Reconstructionists. They have the power, we can no longer change anything. We are just spinning our wheels.

71. So let's all roll over and stay silent - NOT!

Excellent thread!

It is now becoming crystal clear that they thought we were as dumb as Puppet Boy.

They did not know we could make a spread sheet, tally votes and BINGO! realize that something is fishy.

Let's not forget that Rush Limbaugh and Shaun and all the whores were crying the day before the election. If they knew they were going to have more registered voters and record numbers why would they be so sad.

They were as shocked as We were!

It was a Rove fix and may God make him rot in hell.

60% of all Bushes new votes, 5.2 million votes, were gained in just 11 states…FL, TX. NY, OH, PA, GA, MI, NJ, TN, NC, IL

We now need to know which counties within those states produced the vote gain.

If anyone wants to take up a job it would be sensible to establish a thread for each state and then post an analysis of the county by county comparisons bush 2000 compared with bush 2004. Again we do not need the results for all the counties... just the ones showing significant bush gains.

2000 results county by county are available here
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2000/results/

and

2004 results county by county are available here
http://network.ap.org/dynamic/files/specials/election_night_2004/us_map_govsenhouse/index.html?SITE=CSPANELN&SECTION=POLITICS

(click on your state and then scroll down and click on "By county -- President" )

Once we have identified the counties the votes appeared in we can then see if there is any correlation by voting equipment which you can do here.

Stage 2 Of This Research.. any help would be greatly appreciated....

CLICK HERE TO SEE WHICH MACHINES ARE USED WHERE – VerifiedVoting.Org's Verifier

If you like making your research fun... it is quite cool to try and guess where you will find your new bush votes on the basis of the equipment being used. If the technique works it sort of proves the theory as you are doing the job.

58. States that had gay marriage props for comparison
Oklahoma, Georgia, North Dakota, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, Utah, Mississippi and Arkansas backed constitutional amendments limiting marriage to a union between a man and a woman.

Oregon, which had been expected to reject the proposed ban, was backing a similar amendment by a smaller margin.

Ohio is reported to have also backed an amendment against civil unions for gay couples.

FL, TX. NY, OH, PA, GA, MI, NJ, TN, NC, IL

100. George S...
...somebody later on may have already said this, but... your post really puts the lie to this "morality vote" bullshit. If the gay marriage issue drove people to the polls in massive numbers, then why don't the states with the gay marriage amendment on the ballot also match the states where Bush gained the most votes? Logic says they would.

Yes, the amendment was on the ballot in OH.

So, in other words, you'd think Bush would have high gains in Utah, yet Bush votes were DOWN in that state...! You'd think they'd be up in Mississippi and Montana, too... yet Montana just elected a Democrat for governor.

86. not showing 2000 countie data there
I get "page not found, may have been removed"

At least for 3 counties I tried in PA

Usually the states secretary of state sight will have results by county as they're responsible for the vote count. Or they'll have a link to a seperate elections board site or similar.

Thanks for the machines link.

Only the CSV file for this one.
Mostly lever, optical scan and paper ballots
There are 6 or so counties using electronic

General trend is Bush improved 5:4 versus Kerry/Gore.
The electronic voting trends all fairly close to that and well
within the ranges of the lever, optical and paper areas.

105. Florida county -by-county results
Okay, I just computed Florida county-by-county results for
Bush votes in 2000, 2004, difference, and precentage
difference.

First of all, in most counties Bush gained around 30-35% of
votes in this election than he did 2000.

His top 3 gains were in the following counties:

Sumter 63.2%
Osceola 64.3%
Dixie 64.37%

His least 3 gains were in the following counties:

Jefferson 8.45%
Miami-Dade 9.0%
Monroe 21.16%

Unfortunately, I didn't find any correlation between these
results and voting methods in those counties. I'm not a
statistician, so maybe others can find more interesting
anamolies. I don't know how to explain the wide margins here
at all.

14. You better hurry with this information because CNN is already
reporting that the election was a vindication for the electronic voting. There were no problems reported, they say. This is why Kerry has failed us. We really can't use the media to push this as we would have had the full count been allowed to take place. Now this information will be buried and the next election will be stolen as well.

61. The same media that pumped up the WMD issues and Iraq
Which was another bald face lie that we knew and kept on and proved wrong. Which many bush supporters still believe there were and are etc. People on this board made fun of the WMD issue months ahead of the extra blatant lies that proceeded the invasion.

We discredited the effing corporate press and all the rest of the malarkey. So NOW we need to give the corporate press validity again so they can make this fraud come clean. You have got to be dreaming because they are in on it. Just like so many other things they have been doing.

I think it would be better to just tip over the apple cart and forget about winning anything, because wining isn't going to happen if you can't tell. They can invent all the fairy tales they want but not reality. We find where the fraud is and expose it, keep files on it, find background on it.

Keep our records mirrored in many places so they can't get back at us or stop us and network it out so we cant be a single target. We need to gather people who want to keep track of the truth, this how we will win. Give up on them prizes other than the truth, because that is only thing that cannot be taken away.

16. Great post, great information!
I think you're on to something.

To play devil's advocate, some of the Bush increase in NY, NJ and FL could be due to either conservative Jewish voters who support Bush's Isreal policy or to people who support Bush due to 9/11. I did GOTV in Monmouth county--an area which lost large numbers of people in the World Trade Center and it's true that some registered Dems switched sides. This was a tiny minority. My guess also is that the real conservative Jews were Bush supporters in 2000 if only due to lifestyle issues.

Bush vote gains and BBV technology?

Do we know by percent of machines, counties or per capita the extent of BBV deployment in each state?

How about spoilage analysis due to antiquated/defective voting technologies affecting the Kerry vote?

I'm sure exit poll analysis would be interesting too, since its the only secondary measure we have....

Check this out: http://forum.johnkerry.com/index.php?showtopic=112163

We have found VERY STRANGE discrepencies in the county-by-county numbers in FL. It definitely does not look probably that Bush got this many votes.

We've gone to several press/media contacts with a full analysis.

In most counties, Bush got SEVERAL TIMES MORE VOTES THAN REGISTERED REPUBLICANS and it means that at least 2/3'ds DEMOCRATS had to DEFECT which isn't realistic.

98. Consider what you are asking here
An independent voter is usually just that. Not followers, going through the motions of change. Sure some this or that, but one would mostly think they break for the challenger when current office holder is not doing a good job.

Also would think they would be less swayed by fear with the go it alone attitude, not favoring the incumbent also. Even with just common sense all these new magical numbers of voters for Bush don't add up

On the Kerry Forum, we are discussing BAD DATA (doesn't add up) in actual VOTES... (that is 5.88% more republicans voted than there are registered).

No one is going to care about discrepencies in Exit Polls vs. Results. The media has already discredited that argument.

The same media that relentlessly marched us off to war in Iraq with detailed descriptions and images of the massive amounts of WMD in Saddam Hussein's Iraq? That MSM? Oh, wait, they got that data and those pictures from the White House. Well, I'm sure they haven't gotten their orders from the WH this time. This time it's COMPLETELY different.

Please. :eyes:

The media explains nothing. If they did their jobs, we wouldn't be in Iraq today.

Watch NH for exit poll vs. actual vote investigation results. Then we'll see. Until then, don't bother with the WH talking points about the exit polls.

The issue in any case is not as you portray it - exit polls versus results. The exit polls don't consistently or explainably vary from the results. In one location they are wildly off, while in others they are very close. That is suspicious no matter what the media says and no matter what your opinion is as to what people will or won't care about.

48. In order to find proof we need to identify where to look for it.
Hence this exercise... finding vote rigging on this scale is like finding a needle in a haystack. Or more like finding a bunch of needles in a big bin full of pins.

I have now identified the states where bush made his gains.

Next we identify the counties.

Once we have done that we can determine if there is anything odd about all this. If the 30% of vote turnout increase bush experienced in Florida is spread unevenly that will provide some clues.

The exit polls contain clues.

This exercise contains some clues.

This is the basics.

118. the "where's the proof" false argument
The "where's the proof" misdirection is being used all over the Internet.

If proof were required before any investigation could begin, then no crime could ever be solved. We are not calling for indictments, let alone guilty verdicts, so the call for "proof" represents either a very poor understanding of how justice works or a willful attempt to discredit and insult people. We are calling for an investigation. That requires reasonable suspicion, and no more. That I believe we have established.

Beyond that, the government is not just any defendant. The government, according to all of our law and theory of government, is answerable to the people. We have a right to transparency in our government, and demanding it is not an "accusation" that requires "proof" in order to be valid.

It is not up to the citizens to prove that the government is acting in a tyrannical manner, it is up to the officials in government to gain our confidence by demonstrating that they are acting in our interests. The officials hold a public trust. We are the public. The trust is in question. That is enough to open a full investigation. Then, if there is no "proof" so be it.

Do some research.

"At least 35 counties in the state of Ohio have chosen to use a touch screen voting machine manufactured by Diebold, a company based in North Canton, Ohio."

117. you need to get a better understanding perhaps
It is a little more complex and much more important than you are implying. We are talking about, in the words of Thomas Paine, the first principles of government, and our primary right - the right to vote.

You say "Ohio didn't use Diebold and we need Ohio"... therefore... ?

This is about a widespread pattern of suspicious results. It isn't so simple as what "we need" or Diebold or Ohio.

What we need - we the American people and future generations of American people - is restoration of the foundation of our freedom.

"The right of voting for representatives is the primary right by which other rights are protected. To take away this right is to reduce a man to slavery, for slavery consists in being subject to the will of another, and he that has not a vote in the election of representatives is in this case. The proposal therefore to disfranchise any class of men is as criminal as the proposal to take away property."

We knew they would, we no there would be no paper trail like in past and they did it almost blatantly like all the other scams. I am not surprised and thanks for the Info. This makes feel a lot better knowing, because the numbers can't lie and get away with it :-)

57. You are probably already aware of Kevin Shelley's
antagonism to the Diebold machines after the last election and the recent "investigation" of Shelley by the SF Chronicle and the Sacramento Bee. We all know its retribution for his opposition to using those machines and this is a concerted effort to either get him out of office so the governor can replace him with a republican or to neutralize the office by freezing the voter funds.

66. Wasn't it much more than 8 million new voters?
I heard many, many stories about Republicans who had voted for Bush in 2000 but who were switching to Kerry on November 2nd. Bush perhaps obtained 8 million more votes in 2004 than he did in 2000, but I think it would be worth exploring how many votes he LOST from 2000 voters who had previously voted for him, but who voted for Kerry this time. I think his real number of new voters is much, much higher than 8 million.

74. Putman Co. FL 123% increased vote for * in 2004? [from TableTalk-Salon]
http://tabletalk.salon.com/webx?14@@.773a529d/115

This is interesting. Take Florida's Putnam County. According to 2000 Census data, Putnam County has 53,098 citizens who are age 18 and above. They are pretty middle of the road politically - last presidential election they gave Gore 12,107 votes, and gave Bush 13,457. The turnout as you can see was almost 50%

Forward to 2004. Let's optimistically assume that the new over-18 population has now grown to 58,000. How did they vote? Well, they gave Kerry 12,409 votes, and gave Bush 51,988 votes. For a total of 64,397 votes (not counting third party candidates). A nice, patriotic 123% turnout!

http://tabletalk.salon.com/webx?14@@.773a529d/117

This is my own research, I got the numbers from various gov't websites. Spam this info if you like, I'm on the way home right now and when I get home I'll post source links to show you where I got the figures.

Re: Putnam County -

I'm embarrased to say I erred with my figures - I accidently transposed Putnam County's Bush figures with Santa Rosa's Bush figures. I'm putting all this stuff on a spreadsheet and sometimes my mind goes faster than my fingers. Mi Apologia.

That being said we are still on the right track. Florida was stolen again and the popular vote was stolen.

I'm now going to see if the county tallies jibe with the state tallies.

How do we make this very easy for the average person to understand -- chunk down the information into information easily swallowed?

5. The remainder of my selection of states is broadly defined as "red states", they averaged 20% in terms of voting gain for bush. Notably both Kansas and Utah achieved % gains for bush below the national average. I am guessing here but I would have thought both states were "moral issue" based voter heavy.

This, to me, is indicative of just how badly Bush would've been beaten if they hadn't stolen votes. There base had eroded much more than grown - that mandate shit is just that, shit.

106. ALTHE CAT - FLORIDA COUNTY BY COUNTY STATS
Hey there,

Okay, I just computed Florida county-by-county results for
Bush votes in 2000, 2004, difference, and precentage
difference. (I think this is what you wanted...)

First of all, in most counties Bush gained around 30-35% of
votes in this election than he had in 2000.

His top 3 gains were in the following counties:

Sumter 63.2%
Osceola 64.3%
Dixie 64.37%

His least 3 gains were in the following counties:

Jefferson 8.45%
Miami-Dade 9.0%
Monroe 21.16%

Unfortunately, I didn't find any correlation between these
results and voting methods in those counties. I'm not a
statistician, so maybe others can find more interesting
anamolies. I don't know how to explain the wide margins here
at all.

125. From Cam Kerry
From Cam Kerry:

I am grateful to the many people who have contacted me to express their deep concern about questions of miscounting, fraud, vote suppression, and other problems on election day, especially in Florida and Ohio. Their concern reflects how much people care about the outcome of this election.

I want to you to know we are not ignoring it. Election protection lawyers are still on the job in Ohio and Florida and in DC making sure all the votes are counted accurately. I have been conferring with lawyers involved and have made them aware of the information and concerns people have given me. Even if the facts don't provide a basis to change the outcome, the information will inform the continuing effort to protect the integrity of our elections.

If you have specific factual information about voting problems that could be helpful to the lawyers doing their job, please send it to [email protected] rather than to me.

The election protection effort has been important to me personally, and I am proud of the 17,000 lawyers around the country who helped. It's obvious that we have a way to go still, but their efforts helped make a difference. Their work goes on.

Thank you,
Cam Kerry

109. Do you have a statistical analysis for the strange #'s in CO?
I raised the question earlier today in this Thread

Why are those numbers for Kerry and Coors so similar?

Just a coincidence?

130. Pulling that kind of number game in Vegas will get you arrested
Bev and many others talked about how that was practice which was a real possibility of flipping the vote when they knew they were going to loose. It would make it easy and very low maintenance way of doing it. No muss no fuss.

The whole country wide election looks too complicated for them to pull this off across the board though. Must of been a variety of ways it was set up.

Complex things can often multiple reasons for failure, and who would know better than the people who built them?

114. No oddity here.
Colorado went for Bush the first time around, too. Overall, the state is more conservative than liberal, with the Denver and Boulder areas going democratic, but everywhere else (i.e., the rural population and conservative population in Colorado Springs) going republican. The state is changing rapidly, however, with the influx of people who are moving to CO from California.

The senate race didn't go to the republicans because Pete Coors is simply a doofus when it comes to politics. Plus, in local races there was a backlash against the very right-wing governor who's implemented policy after policy against the will of the people.

119. No surprise to hear that Junior's #'s were padded in Texas & FL
I'm in Texas and I know Kerry had more support here than was reflected in the results. Not everyone in Texas is dumber'n dirt. We know better than most what he's about. But given the assumption that so many folks have that he is beloved here (**gag**), padding Texas' numbers would not make them look all that suspicious. Not unless someone did a detailed analysis of those numbers. ;)

As for Florida,.... Jeb. 'Nuff said.

131. Completely agree about Tx
In 2000, Gore signs were a real rarity. In 2004, I saw Kerry signs all over the place and scattered around so-called Bush bastions. In 2000, you could get your tires slashed for having a Gore sign. In 2004, it was perfectly acceptable to support Kerry.

All our early voting machines in Tarrant County are Diebold Touchscreens and the mainstay of the precincts are Diebold optical scanners. This switch happened awhile ago....

I also firmly believe this is how they got rid of Cleland in GA.

126. Hey this is the thread I said I was looking for
I found this last Thursday when you posted it and I wrote the stats out by hand. But I wrote how many extra votes Bush got in each of these states and the negatives for Calif. and Wash.

My teenagers in class got the significance of this immediately. If you just show the total increase in votes by blue states, swing states, red states (with emphasis on lack of large increase in Bible belt states like mine, Kansas, and Nebraska) and then show the negative votes for the two states who insisted on the paper trail...people get it and quickly.

great work

Given the machine in Broward County that started counting backwards at 32,000, how many of those machines would have to be in place to reverse the results - that is, take away the 3.5 mil lead to Kerry? Why would the code in ONE machine be written that way and not in any others? And, is this just one or two lines of code in thousands on this machine? Do we have access to the programs for verification purposes?
