The exit polling data IS FOR SALE.

You may not know that the NATIONAL ELECTION POOL EXIT POLL (formed by the TV networks and AP) states in its website that the exit poll data will be on sale ONE WEEK AFTER ELECTION DAY to news organizations and WEBSITES among other institutions. I have not seen this statement modified as of today.

So, why don't we put our money where our mouth is?

Let's buy it and put it on the hands of the statisticians that visit this forum.

The "Roper Center" (UConn) will also obtain the exit poll but data 3 MONTHS AFTER THE ELECTION.

It will be on sale too. I don't know about you but I feel that democracy can't wait that long.

1. Raw data or "corrected" data?

I suspect it will be the latter and therefore will likley be useless.

I read it somewhere. Roughly it goes like this:

"They would release the RAW DATA WITHOUT CORRECTION, but it wouldn't show how they weighted it or what methodology they used..."

"What you would like to know is, at least, how the sampling was done and the totals of the last batch of inquiries and phone calls made ONE HOUR BEFORE THE POLLS WERE CLOSED in election day...and they will not tell you that"

I guess that is the implication. The raw, raw data would still be very useful. If included the raw head counts for weighting demographics, then we could reconstruct solid corrected (but not adjusted) numbers like those from before the final adjustments were made.


If it gave us numbers from specific precincts, that would be awesome.

then someone asked if it was just the "corrected' data, and I couldn't say for sure.


Then the thread sunk deep into the abyss.

It would be really nice to know what they are offering.

He's a boogieman. We, the people can't count on they, the monied no matter what side they're on this news cycle. If he ever helps enough to make a difference, great, if not, no big deal. We, the people, have to do this ourselves.
