I think the second scenario is far, far more frightening.

2. REALITY: We were trounced.
It was a GOP sweep.

Bush won by 3.8 million votes.
They picked up 4 Senators and more than 10 house seats...as well as a majority of governor's races.

This is a conservative country now.

5. Nope, not a conservative country
A reactionary country, maybe even a fascist country, but in no way is the contemporary Republican party "conservative."

4. Flame if you must, but sadly Chimp had the Pop. vote all along.
I just can't put on the :tinfoilhat: in denial anymore. Face it: the dirty tricks, fearmongering and lying worked. And no one seems to give a shit.

12. The heck it doesn't!!
Some more numbers from the WaPost exit polls:

http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/elections/2004/graphics/exitPolls.html

Dem 38% Rep 35% Ind 26%

Dem: K90, B9

Repub: K7, B92

Ind: K52, B44

per 1000 voters: 380 Dem 350 Rep 260 Ind

Dems: K 342 B 34.2

Reps: K 24.5 B 322

Inds: K 135.2 B 114.4

For EVERY 1000 votes counted, Bush should have been BEHIND Kerry by 30!!

14. Your error is that you forget that many people split the ticket.
Remember the Reagan Democrats? He won 49 states but still had a Demcratic House. Just because someone self IDs as a Democrat does NOT mean that they are an automatic vote for Kerry.

10. The first scenario is by far worse
If they won legitimately, then they won. Kerry should concede.

If they stole this election they will steal the next election and the next and the next. That is MUCH worse!

13. fraud...
If he "won" by fraud, that is worse, as it's more indicative of potentially overwhelming challenges ahead for the American people.

If he won legitimately, that's more palatable. Many upon many vote along party lines. It's fundamental.

I have a much more difficult time recognizing a criminal as a leader.

16. I've been thinking that all night
It scares the shit out of me to think that, in fact, a little over half of our country mates think Bush is a good leader and want him back. According to the early vote count, 58 MILLION people wanted this.

Yes, there was wide spread voter fraud, especially in Ohio and Florida, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 58 MILLION or more people. There should NEVER have been a chance for Bush to steal this. It's mind boggling to me that this is happening. I am still in utter shock. HOW did this end up close enough for them to steal? WHY don't more people realize they are getting screwed? WHAT the hell is happening to this country? I'm in such an utter rage that I'm afraid to come across a Bush supporter. I want to smack the hell out of them.

But more than true Bush supporters, I REALLY want to smack the hell out of the segment of our population that voted for Bush they recognize his name. (Yes, I actually know someone like that). They take their right to vote seriously, but they don't take it seriously enough to do any research into what they are voting for. They listen to CNN and MSNBC and FOX and think that they know what's going on, but refuse to listen when you tell them that the media is biased and NOT for liberals.

All in all, voter fraud and massive disenfranchisement aside, this happened because 1/2 our our country truly believes that this misogynous, homophobic, war-mongering thief is the best we can do.

And THAT makes me feel pretty hopeless right now. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel better.

19. It's a fraud either way
Whether by outright voter suppression or getting more votes by lying to the American people with the collusion of media. It's a fraud.

20. Fraud, because if voting is rigged
The Democratic Party is dead. If Bush won because the public was scared and misinformed, there is at least a chance to educate people. But if the Republicans have no fear about being voted out of office, they can do whatever they want without ever having to worry about being answerable to the public.

Fraud is harder to fix. When * fucks up the next 4 years, the voters will change....

I still fear fraud, however.
