How can we talk to 56 million democrats? The only venue
was the convention and debates. NY Times, Wash Post, LA Times are not behind us (taking a leap to say they ever were) No TV, no CNN, no MSNBC except KO. Most of our senators and republicans aren't listening either (I sent mine demo 10 letters with no reply). The only way now is the internet, word of mouth, calls to C-SPAN, AirAmerica and the US mail. Please tell me I am wrong.

I like another DUer's idea -- get Soros to buy a network so we can tell all the Democrats their votes were stolen

4. You know, that's how Air America Radio started...
Carolyn Kay of makethemaccountable.com started raising funds for a media project, raised enough to get Progressive venture capitalist Sheldon Drobney involved, and he developed it to the point where it was sold to the current owner group almost ready to go on the air.

I know you two are half kidding, but we CAN do this...

10. Instant Internet-based "TV network" on the cheap
With bandwidth and a digital videocamera, we could set up a very inexpensive Internet-based TV station using open source video streaming software like MPEG4IP or VideoLAN.

If a daily broadcast were of high enough quality, word could spread virally.

86. This is the only way we will ever be herd.
The most important discovery in Human History.
The elections are rigged. All of them are.
They don't even count paperless votes. They have trapped your Voice inside a computer. The only way to break their stupid game is to write in "peace" on paper ballots and make them count them in front of you.
Do this in every election and only Humans can be the winner.
We don't care who the puppet is, we care that the puppet is peaceful.
Send this message to every Human. Ever Man, Woman, and Child.
Send this message to your Grand Children.
This is the only way Humans will ever have peace.
We must be allowed to ask for it. Every Human wants peace.
Never again give your voice to a computer that doesn't count your vote.
Don't let them take your voice away from you.
This is the most important piece of information ever discovered.
This information can set all humans Free.
Never let your technology fool you again.
Never let them divide you into Red, or Blue, or Black, or White, or Cristian, or Jew, or Muslim, or Hindu, or Pagan, or Conservative, or Liberal.
None of the issues they talk about are important enough to let them prevent you from voting for peace.
Demand Paper Ballots. demand they be counted.
Never let them steal your voice again.

6. the big silence

You are right, INFORMATION is power today - and we have no information channels...

I would inform Soros in any case -

and another way maybe: Just inform the media with right numbers, clearly arranged fact lists and objective speech. And never give up in this effort...

I still believe there is a lack of information in the editorial staffs (they always just see a few things but not the whole picture).

Arnebeck said it really right: If the people know about the fraud, and the media talk about it, there is now way a court can cancel this.

But the main problem (also at the past election) is: People are not informed... The main part of the nation don't know anything about these facts (Diebold, Ohio, Exit Polls a.s.l.).

...and the American people don't want the facts. They want to know our values. So we need to learn how to "reframe" the debate to reflect our values: opportunity, responsibility, care, hope, respect.

99. The majority of dems WOULD NOT watch the new network
most people are not as serious and obsessed as the average DUer.

What we can do right now is use poor man's advertising and free delivery systems, ie. DUers to spread the immediate message, that the election was fraudulent.

Right NOW we at DU CAN just like the mean girls in highschool start a whisper campaign against the chimp's reputation. How you ask? By using guerilla and viral marketing techniques. That means using unconventional means of delivering a message that creates buzz, ie viral marketing.

Do this:

download the file below and got to Kinkos and make copies.

BUSH CHEATED is color but can be printed and
photocopied B&W to save $$$. They print 2 to a sheet, so you will have to cut them.

download file here:

http://somnamblst.tripod.com/

Use the BUSH CHEATED to flyer cars or even BETTER...

Buy a can of 3M Super 77 spray adhesive from staples and glue the BUSH CHEATED graphic to metal utility poles, bus stop shelters, advertising benchs, newspaper racks etc. let your inner anarchist express itself. If enough people do this then the masses will become aware AND just like highschool Bush's reputation will be ruined.

This is something we can do RIGHT NOW. No dreaming just ACTION. I've started. I challenge everyone on DU to commit to disseminating at least 10 per day.

8. Premise is correct; Get CNN to do live coverage of Rep Conyer's hearing
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 06:54 PM by understandinglife
We need every citizen to know what the already well documented systemic disenfranchisement issues are in the still underway national election.

For starters, our fellow citizens need to know IT'S NOT OVER.

Pragmatic approach -- make sure c-span, Air America, Pacifica radio, Olbermann are all on the scene and covering Rep Conyers hearing on 8 Dec 2004. And, get someone like Aaron Brown or Lou Dobbs of CNN to be at that hearing and cover it live for CNN. We have this major opportunity on 8 Dec 2004 to force the issue into every airport, home, computer, ..., in the world. If the other networks know CNN is going to be on the scene at that hearing, they'll all be there, as well.

Peace.

23. ??

It's naive to create a network. First, you have to find your audience... (see C-Span versus CNN), second, you have to give quality. Why do you think it's so difficult to launch a new magazine or tv-channel?

It's maybe a good idea for the forthcoming years, but not for this (questionable) election...

Also, an explicit partisan-channel is just interesting for partisan-people...

And it's so difficult to make a high quality channel...

And it may be difficult but not impossible, I think with as much reality TV as everyone watches I think people may be ready for some reality news. IMHO :)

161. Cuz Fox has the constant mantra of "fair & balanced"
But even Fox's daily audience is a miniscule slice of the population.
Even the purportedly most popular radio talk show of Limpballs attracts
20 million WEEKLY, that is less than 7% of population over a whole damn week.

So are you saying this new idea of a TV/Radio station will attract numbers to make it worthwhile? Just think about it.

125. Have the celebs buy a news network, too
Regardless of how this turns out, we are perpetually going to have trouble if we can't get at least one major news network that slants liberal, or at least is unbiased.

As much as I hate Fox News, I can see how their ratings got so high.
Most people aren't home when the 3 major networks air their news programs. The concept of 24-hour news is a good one. CNN used to be a good choice for this, but then they sold out and went to a shorter format--just 15 minutes, then the same headline news repeats, and half of that is entertainment news and sports.
So people who wanted more news, at any hour that's convenient, switched to Fox.

If progressives could run a channel with similar 24-hour in-depth news programming, but with regular features on issues that mean something to the average family, I think it could be a big success. We could contact all of those "blue" companies listed on the "Buy Blue" thread to be advertisers.

Hey, maybe we could even hire Dan Rather to anchor it, with Bill Moyers for good measure!

Plus we could have some GREAT celebrity entertainment to lure in new viewers, just by inviting celebs who helped fund the network to do a special.

136. CAN WE RUN AN INFOMERCIAL (LIKE ROSS PEROT DID?)
If a major network would run it during prime time (questionable) this would be the fastest way to reach the masses. Buy air time right after some popular TV show or special event, with promo ads during the earlier program hyping the upcoming special.

Or try something less obvious, since the news networks are owned by toadies for Bush. ESPN, maybe, just after a big sporting event. What's coming up, the Holiday Bowl?

Look at what we just did...we gave lots of contributions to various candidates and organizations, who are now almost universally neglecting
the election fraud issue. I would much rather contribute to DU only, and then be the owner of voting shares on how our money was to be spent.

I like the infomercial idea.

34. Why are you worrying about talking to Democrats?
I'm not a Democrat, but I'm vitally interested in what's going on.

It wasn't Democrat votes that were stolen, it was the votes of citizens.

Some of them were Democrat, some were unaffiliated, and I bet there were even quite a few Republican votes that were meant for Kerry and got switched to Bush.

Democrats should put party second and the country first right now.

36. I think we are talking about 2 different things
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 07:37 PM by proudtobeadem
There are two issues we need to address:
1) The stolen election & how to get the word out ASAP to the rest of america.
2) A voice that can compete with MSM to represent us long term.

On edit sorry I meant to post this to the main post.(I still have to get the hang of posting)

93. Two main media objectives.....
I agree. A two-pronged approach is in order.
--------------------

1. There is a short-term goal of "what happened" in the selections

Right now we must use any means possible. I esp like the idea of trying to get big newspaper ads in major big-city markets for the short term. Excellent idea and well worth it for the exposure. Can get that going quickly. Goes without saying to continue to create visibility on the net, and I think the ideas here on expansion on the net are right on target.

PRIORITY NUMBER 1 WILL TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION...

------------------------

2. Start immediately to visualize a new TV outlet.

If AA is one to do it, OK, but that remains to be seen. In my vision,
this outlet does not have to be perfect. Just start talking Truth. The reality TV analogy is true--a little bit rough is real. Slick is not all that desirable, although must still reach a certain standard for professionalism. I think our downtrodden audience would be so grateful, they would FORGIVE a lot?! We have been so abused by slick media presentations that it has an aversive effect after awhile. Make liberal use of artists, writers, musicians performers, comedians. Good interviews, discussions on the issues. I'd love to see this happen.

---------------------
Suggestions
Continue to discuss this. In the brainstorm period, no idea is too outlandish. Let's kick it around. We have the numbers. No need to think small. Let's write out the proposal. What do we want to see such a TV outlet consist of? Post it here. When we get that together, then we can put it out to key people. People who have the vision, not only the money (OK vision and money together would be ideal)--but vision first, then support ideas... then we could take a survey here on this site to see if others would support it.

I could go on all night on this. Have also wanted to see this happen. I hate trying to beg for crumbs from existing media when we could just create our own reality. It seems so much more postive. Not to say we shouldnt chip away at MSM, but I think we should dare to imagine....something completely different.

101. FYI the George Soros ad that ran in the Cinti. Enquirer for 1 day cost
$80,000. Yes that is right in a paper with only about 300,000 circulation. It was a doubletruck (2 pages connected) and as a political ad there was no discount unlike retail ads. That $80,000 ad did not put Hamilton County in the Kerry column. Neither did the Guest Editorial from a retired GOP judge listing all the reasons why he was voting for Kerry.

144. Maybe small display ads then???
Thanks for that info. Is that an average rate for similar papers? I've only had dealings with smaller papers, where even a doubletruck is relatively affordable.

Maybe we could do small display ads, with web addresses where readers could go for info and to lend support. Not try to "say it all" in the actual ad. Place such ads very strategically.

Suggested small display ad:

1. Headline -- "We the People Do Not Concede" (Bold Black)

2. Explanation -- one sentence summing up

3. Web Addresses -- for info
(they agree to be listed as a resource.)

146. The cheapest AND easiest thing an army of DUers and like minded
Edited on Sun Dec-05-04 10:08 AM by rosebud57
activists could start doing right now since time is of the essense is:

Guerilla marketing uses unconventional means of distributing a message.

Viral marketing describes any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the message's exposure and influence. Viral marketing often comes about because of "buzz".

Before the election I was using guerilla marketing in my GOTV street canvassing. Some DUers did join me but it was not nearly enough to create media buzz. People of course were phone banking, canvassing and writing LTTES, all of which were very important before the election. Now that we have time on our hands and an army of hopefully willing participants, IMHO a brilliant way to take the next step and get the word out to those who do not frequent lefty web sites is:

What we can do right now is use poor man's advertising and free delivery systems, ie. DUers to spread the immediate message, that the election was fraudulent.

Right NOW we at DU CAN just like the mean girls in highschool start a whisper campaign against the chimp's reputation. How you ask? By using guerilla and viral marketing techniques. Do this:

download the file below and go to Kinkos and make copies.

BUSH CHEATED is color but can be printed and
photocopied B&W to save $$$. They print 2 to a sheet, so you will have to cut them.

download this and other files here:

http://somnamblst.tripod.com /

I had hoped to plaster Columbus at the rally yesterday with both BUSH CHEATED & Blackwell RECUSE, but the wind was so bad it would have been impossible. I did however do some bus stop shelters and utility poles near campus in Cincinnati yesterday and none of my handiwork has been peeled off.

39. What a good idea
airwaves (nationwide television network) of our own. Not just Soros, but a conglomeration of wealthy and powerful progressives plus our own donations (public partners)with advertising space for Dem-only businesses. If they do not have to be unbiased neither do we. We have the entertainers with good progressive ideas, producers, documentaries, editorialists, talk show hosts that present something besides the drivel we see on most talk shows, reporters, humorists, etc. that can make it competitive, interesting and educational all with the ideal of our democratic values in mind.

However, I do have some advise: We need to watch our language. I am not suggesting outside censorship. I am suggesting that we not forget our goal to get to the people. Thus we censor ourselves for the sake of the message. All cursing does is show our anger, it does not convince anyone to listen to our message.

I live in a small community of elderly and families of all descriptions - I live in a Democrat community in a Democrat state. In this community I continually hear objections to the language that they hear on the television, radio, read in books, newspapers and magazines. Cursing is routine in our everyday speech today and I also do it. But if I WANT to be heard in my Democrat community I have learned that the minute I reduce my message to swearing I have lost my listeners. If this is true in a Democrat community then how much more is it true when we want to preach to someone besides the choir? We need to developer programing that will keep the listener tuned in to our message not one that will turn them off.

I hardly ever listen to television anymore because the type of drama that we enjoyed in the Star Trek, Dr. Kildare, Mash days is no more.
Talk shows are full of idiots who have destroyed their own lives and we are asked to feel sorry for them. What ever happened to educated guests who talk about problems and solutions that touch all of us? What has happened to humor like "Laugh-in" and "Mash" that get a message across without saying "fuck" even once? What happened to programing that you can set down with your children and listen together? My two daughters lay on pillows at my feet watching Star Trek and to this day they are trekies. Put programing on our station that actually reflects our values of family, neighborhood and community. That will bring the people. Enough of the rant - Sorry.

And as for him running for president, I will take him anytime over Jerry Falwell, Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich types who are eminently qualified to run for president.

today, as I was clicking for coverage in Ohio. I don't know what John Stewarts ratings are, but they've got to be up there. The problem is that you just can't get information. I wrote an email to MSNBC saying that I found out more in 5 mins. on DU, than I would learn watching them 24 hrs. Sometimes I leave on Bloomberg and just read the crawl. Considering the amount of cable channels you would think it would be a no-brainer. There is Democracy Now, but of course its not enough. Someone could sit at a desk, and read the posts from DU..slightly vetted of course....kinda like FOX.

Blogger gets Sheldon Drobny interested.
Then sold to other investors.
Who are they?
I've been listening to AA since day one.
I remember they almost crashed before they got to cruising altitude.
The on-air story was they had a republican onboard who tried to sabotage the network.
Then, they reorganized and now are beating Rush,Hannity and O'Reilly
in markets where they are head to head.
So who owns them now?
What kind of money can we organize to make the transition to cable TV?
Class?
Do you know?
Does anyone know?

59. I just had a flash!
It would depend on the current owners of AA being more interested in changing the frame of popular culture than they are at turning a profit.
At least in the short term. Although I think there is lots of profit to be had in the long run.
We have seen the audience of AA grow wildly.
We have seen the on-air personalities raise millions for groups like Bev, Optruth, Moveon, ect ect.
Why not take the company public and use the airtime to sell penny stock to all of the listeners?
Now we're talking!
We could raise the cash for the transition.
What good is their ownership if the country becomes a fascist state and Prez Smirk and VP Snarl decide to crush all dissent.
If it doesn't grow bigger than can be contained, and fast, it won't be around long anyway.
Who are these people?

67. This might be a crazy idea...
but BET network and other black-run media outlets might be an option worth pursuing. Can you imagine a BET show with Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton telling it like it is and getting the voter fraud info out to the people? BET has its own daily newscast, I believe, and there are also several AA interest magazines with a large readership. If we can get these media venues to air info on the vote fraud issue, especially since black folks are the main victims of voter disenfranchisement, it might succeed in breaking the media lockdown and force mainstream outlets to begin covering this issue in earnest. It also could play a major role in jump-starting the kind of large scale protests we need to get people's attention. Think of this strategy as the left's answer to the religious right's use of CBN/700 Club to reach its core audience. I really believe this could have an impact.

134. 4th goal: Buy stock in a network and take it over!
CBS, NBC, ABC and their parent companies are ALL publicly owned. I'm not sure about Fox. Does someone know how to research the total stock value of these companies? Imagine if we could become majority shareholders in one of them, with some big bucks from the celebs and billionaires. Getting a network already watched by lots of people would guarantee instant widespread viewership, though cost would be huge.

growing an existing Co, and money from the little people so we can keep them honest. Sort of like PBS but much more flashy like the MSM and for that we would need the endorsement of Celebs.

147. More flashy OK
Right, more "flashy" than PBS or C-Span stodgy style. I think you mean more visual, more dynamic, more entertaining, more humor. I agree.

However I caution against being overly slick--backing off from the extremely frenetic, mind blowing visuals. We would want this to appeal to all ages, and to those with longer attention spans.
(please no ads with trucks careening around maniacally splashing mud. I see those bearing down on me in my sleep) Do use creative graphics and animations--get some really talented visual and sound artists on board. Good documentaries, too--more of those will be coming out.

The door is wide open for a much more refreshing, faster-paced, more entertaining style even as it gives us progressive news and info we can trust. I think there is great opportunity in this concept.

too that it would be good to not even have it be partisan like someone else mentioned. Since they are all owned by big biz now, why not a citizen-owned network pledged to the truth? Guess that might be too much like C-SPAN, huh. But they don't really have news. The Truth Network could be just news -- ALL NEWS.

My only concern about a citizen-owned network would be that religious wingnuts could also buy in and infiltrate the decisionmaking process. I don't know how to counteract that without imposing some sort of restrictions on who can participate. Not trying to rain on the parade here -- just thinking out loud.

Lately I've been checking out a lot of Dem/Prog websites, radio stations, etc..( like I said I'm new to all this) and It just seems to me that there is a lot of money and good energy out there but it is too spread out. I think if a few of these media merged and went on TV, their message would pack much more of a punch because it would reach more people. Think about how corporate america has taken over everything -unfortunately that's what would have to be done to really get our message out there.

110. I am not aware of any large TV presence.
It might be possible to acquire a small broadcast network. A number of religious groups have done this with grassroots money. Once the seed has been planted foundations might get involved. The left really needs a voice.

Also, how expensive would it be to start a cable TV station?

The content has to come from somewhere. Air America was on Sundance for while.

Why not involve religious organizations? The repugs don't own God. Jesus was a liberal.

but if AA were to seriously consider founding a cable tv network, it could be useful to speak with some people involved with the larger, better organized Dem PACs. They have smart, motivated people who are very experienced with production and advertising, and they have valuable contacts with major donors who might be interested in investing in a progressive tv network. We could also target corporate donors early on to gauge potential advertising revenue for the network. We need a good businessperson to do some economic feasibility research and a lawyer to look into the most advantageous form of business organization to take.

Involving the PACs at the ground level could help us quickly establish the finance and tv production infrastructure to get the ball rolling. It would also provide a convenient way for different PACs/interest groups to coordinate their goals and priorities -- a sort of grassroots progressive brain trust, if you will -- all focusing their efforts in one direction and cooperating with one another. And our network could be the hub of it all. This could be enormously helpful in terms of framing the issues proactively and creating a consistent, accessible message for the party and our candidates. This would in turn give the network a unique "brand"
and easily recognizable identity.

The network could have a board of directors represented by a diverse group of likeminded individuals and organizations involved with its organization and operation - corporate and individual investors, PAC representatives, prominent activists, respected retired journalists (Walter Kronkite, anyone?), former democratic presidents and/or cabinet members, celebrities, and so on.

Hell yeah, get Al Gore on an investigative show dedicated to environmental issues! Give Jimmy Carter an international politics and diplomacy show! Let's have a weekly panel that discusses what's *really* going on with America's economy and what people can do to protect themselves from being shorn like sheep every time the stock market tanks. Let's put Randi Rhodes and Al Franken on tv asking the tough questions and discussing the controversial issues the MSM media is too timid to touch and get Americans thinking for themselves again! It's time America relearned what it means to connect the dots. Let's get some progressive children's programming on the air that teaches them acceptance and critical thinking! Let's show America that liberalism is the ULTIMATE family value!

115. I've been researching AirAmerica
It seems they had a rockier start-up than I had imagined but,it also seems that they have it much more under control now.
The concept was born of a fellow named Sheldon Drobny, who, initially sold it to less than reliable people. In June, these people almost killed it in its infancy. Mr Drobny, along with a group of investors, the re-purchased it.
Mr. Drobny is an occasional contributor to Op-ed News and shortly after the election wrote a scathing article on the electronically fraudulent election.
Here's the link:
http://www.opednews.com/drobny_110904_election_investigation.htm

This article is well worth the read regardless of potential result.

It seems to me that, if approached with a workable idea, he might be very open to the cause here in this thread.

Does anyone know how to come up with contact info for him?

by pissing away our valuable dollars to various candidates, BBV, Michael Moore, etc. etc. Where has that got us? Getting our butts kicked by fraud which no one is now paying attention to.

Instead if we had donated all our funds to create a political outfit, we would have the power of money behind us to become a player. We could have radio, tv or newspaper, whatever media will give our agenda the best exposure. Only if we have this power will the politicians will give us attention.

Ok we blew it for 2004. We don't have the money and organization to expose the fraud thrown at us by Bush. But if we begin channeling our
resources now for the next election (and many more to come) we have a much stronger voice.

The best way to accomplish this goal is to sell shares for the ownership in this venture. $10 buys 1 share. So everyone contributing feels they have a direct stake in the success of this project.

exposing fraud, we must engage our brains and realize that there
is power in unity and that power is exemplified by uniting our
monetary power into one cohesive force to be reckoned with.

I am heartbroken to see that we are just hopelessly flailing away
to expose election fraud. Why? because we lack money and unity.
The protest rally in Ohio yesterday brought in what 400-600 people?
Which MSM is giving our cause attention? Take KO away and we have
close to zilch. And KO is only a small, make it very small player in
terms of audience.

The surest way to continue failure is to not recognize the causes of failure and make a change in direction.

145. URGENT:Media Project Plan -Let's FOCUS first on objectives!
Good Morning Everybody !!!
Once we agree on these objectives, we can begin to form a committee structure and develop associated activities. Please review and comment:

Objectives
1. To IMMEDIATELY develop a short term message and communicate that message to the people that the election was stolen via the most effective and expedited means available:
(a)print media
(b)sympathethic cable outlets
(c)radio
(d)grassroots on the ground and
(e)any other means determined.

2. To develop an INTERMEDIATE message and goal in the event that an invalid inauguration proceeds.

3. To develop a LONG TERM message and goal to insure our voices are heard and To determine the best platform for delivering this message:
(a) Feasibility and pitch to take AA to Cable
(b) Feasibility and pitch for cable Start-up
(c) Feasibility and pitch for Internet TV

We should not split our forces...

Why don't you make a post on the front side?!

We have to act now. The creation of an own network is more a long-termed effort... Underground grassrouts activities are already going on...

Let's concentrate first and in one single thread on the advertising effort. This is a BIG next step. We have first fighting against fraud and then build up some own media...

178. Hi, I think the people that were on this thread
last night will probably show up later. They are probably night people. Like me -I just got up. (I am trying to change my sleeping schedule before I start my new job soon -but it's hard) \
I know your excited and ready to go, but just give it a little time.
I am thinking about what I can do/can contribute before I post.

148. There already ARE two independent networks on satellite!
Free Speech TV and LINK TV. (LINK TV is associated with Harry Belafonte.)

If you all could just dump cable and get Dish Network (because Direct TV is owned by Rupert Murdoch and it does not carry Free Speech TV), you could see both these channels.

Go to their web sites and see if you like what you see. Both networks have a show called Democracy Now with Amy Goodman. Every single day she does a story on vote fraud. She is not afraid to take on the government. She will show you the horrors of war that the propagandist stations will not show.

They also have special broadcasts where Amy interviews folks like Noam Chomsky.

Also on Free Speech is a show called Gay America where they do a weekly show with issues of interest to Gays. I daresay this is the only network that would dare have such a show.

Go to democracynow.org, freespeechtv.org or linktv.org

These networks/shows are supported by US, like PBS used to be. They are all progressive.

I dumped cable in the fall. I now have Dish for less money than cable with additional networks to boot.

151. yes Flood freespeechtv.org contact url with requests
for coverage of the rallies and the unofficial congressional hearing this week!

Anybody have access to Greg Palast? Wouldn't it be great if he published a pamphlet we could get from amazon.com or something that had all the essentials like the 20 things Americans should know (I'd add a few like if 5 congressmen won their elections in 2002 by the exact same number). It should have a reproducible 1-2 pager at the back that you could photcopy and handout. Something easy to read so even a newspaper can understand it.

Then he publish it so its available immediately.

I still think we should be canvassing some of these funny precincts. See if people are willing to swear they voted for Kerry.

174. Here's how we can reach 52 Million Democrats!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x115108

This was posted this morning from Progressive Democrats of Amercia. Read his post- they are putting the coalition together. We need to support them and get behind their efforts!!!

Hey folks,

Kevin from PDAmerica.org here. We are in DC right now giving a presentation to 26 coalition partners to mobilize them around the issue of the voting fraud in ohio. We are getting them to pack the hearings on wed. We came together and pulled funds together to get a “state of the art” action software in which we will be utilizing to help get the word out to the media, members of congress, etc.

I am having staff write up the actions now.

I am in a break out session now to task out the techy stuff, and will be there for the next few hours.

This will be a huge blitz campaign starting tomorrow. Conyers is sticking his neck out again (like in 2000) and PDA and its activist base, and YOU will be there to support him. We want to get the buzz about this far and wide, so that Conyers can take the hearing TO OHIO!

We want to hear from you.. the activists as well

Draft your best Letter to Congress to urge members to join in on this action. Get them to attend the hearings on Wednesday (see details here: http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/120404W.shtml )

Ask them to sign on to the GAO Letter calling for the investigation!

Then draft a letter to the media urging them to cover this!

We are taking several letters from the grassroots, several from our staff, several from policy wonks, and want several from you all to go to our committee. We will then use those for an urgent action we hope to put online tonight.

So you all... the best letters ... bring them on.. post them here please!!!! we got the back end of the software online thus far. And will be in several meetings to finalize it. Time is a wasting! We need to hear from you! The online grassroots!

Please write your best letter!

Peace,
Kevin Spidel

181. Celebs
I applaud the things they did but I'm not pinning my hopes on them....Why hasn't someone with some big bucks started a news channel already? Anyone who hasn't figured out that the main problem is the media, and we need our own news channel, is a moron.
And the notion that there isn't an audience or that it would flop is totally absurd! We're talking about 50% of the country that does not identify with what's out there. Look at how Olbermann's ratings took off recently and Air America's listenership is off the charts. The audience is there and dying for more.
Sorry if I'm in a bad mood this morning but your talking about getting celebs doing this is naive. They'd rather just move off the France or Canada.
Sorry to be so negative.
