Madsen asks for our help into Five Star and "Mr. Horn" (more information)
Here's what Madsen wrote (courtesy of jamboi):
===============================================
"Here's what's going on -- Bushes use Five Star to move massive amounts of money around for their special projects. It was started in the late 80s with stolen Philippine money."

"Horn uses Five Star Investment -- a con artist company registered in the Isle of Man -- to throw off people looking at Five Star Trust, another but real Isle of Man"

"Okay, I guess its time to find out about Mr Horn..
Could you ask people to go to this MSN Groups site:

http://groups.msn.com/civilcase03-0725USDistCourtWashin...

======================================================
So, Madsen wants us to gather information on Five Star and Mr. Horn. Could you please post any information regarding Five Star or Mr. Horn here. Also, email the info to Wayne Madsen at:

18. Even more Madsen on Five Star Trust
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 03:03 AM by jamboi
Madsen writes:

"Five Star Trust was created in Houston in the late 1980s as a Bush umbrella to handle the $3 billion in looted Philippine gold taken out by Marcos. Marcos originally controlled this money (...Jamboi edit...) The "five stars" has a special meaning -- Gen. Douglas MacArthur, under whom Marcos served and who he respected, was a five star General. Five Star Trust is used by the Bushes and the Saudis to move money for their special projects. It is an Isle of Man trust that appears to be associated with Five Star Investments, Ltd., the payee on that alleged payoff check of $29.6 million."

A number of other people have already researched some of this. Here are some links:

http://cannonfire.blogspot.com/2004_11_21_cannonfire_ar...
(keep scrolling down the screen - it includes a few pages of details).

The above message board says that there is a link between the Toronto firm that was mentioned and the Nigerian email scam. He says that is a hint that it may be a Karl Rove planted story to distract everyone.

8. What's the deal with the MSN Groups site?
I'm not a member, so I don't get anything when I click the link -- just a page asking me to register. Is it okay to post stuff here for someone else to transfer over as useful?

A quick Google comes up with somebody at
http://p066.ezboard.com/fduediligenceboardfrm2.showMess...
asking about "DD FIVE STAR TRUST, J. R. HORN, AND STAN HOPKINS" and somebody else responding, "Five Star Trust was working with the notorious Joseph Hayes. Indeed, Hayes claimed to be a Trustee, but like many of his claims, this may or may not be true. However, any link with him, however tenuous, rings alarm bells."

And at http://p067.ezboard.com/fdiligizerfrm5.showMessage?topi... there's a query about "DD Five Star Trust - Island of Nevis-L/C's BG's" and responses about "Scammer Marion Horn" of Memphis.

This is all very murky and I don't know it amounts to, but I guess these other names are worth further Googling.

9. Joseph Hayes
More chatter from that same EZBoard:
http://b2.ezboard.com/fdiligizerfrm13?page=20

"Joseph Hayes represent charities and is based in Europe."

"Is this guy based in Uk - possibly Gloucestershire?"

"You will find many posts about him in the archives, a couple of references on the blacklist, and a whole load of people who are very, very unhappy with said 'gentleman'. The only "charity" he supports is himself, with other peoples money."

"I believe he is located in Rome. He is associated with a Joseph Debanne."

"The reason why he is still in Rome is that he cannot go back to London. If he does he will be in jail."

"More importantly, if he returns to London or Gloucester where he maintains an apartment, there are a number of people who would like to talk to him. Dark alleys and iron bars often enter the conversation."

10. USA vs Horn
From the same EZBoard:
http://p067.ezboard.com/fdiligizerfrm16.showMessage?top...

Subject: J.R. Horn of 5 Star Trust is Back in Jail
Posted By: Claw - Registered User
Posted At: (5/30/02 4:09 pm)

A reliable source has informed me that J.R. is now incarcerated in a Federal facility in Kentucky, awaiting sentencing on 8/19. He is likely to get 18 mos. for a parole violation and for fraudulently issuing a $1B sight draft.

(But I saw reference to this at Kos, so it's already been turned up.)

Someone responds by posting a court docket involving Marion Horn, Jr., so it's apparently the same guy:

13. Possible sources of info on Five Star Trust
I tried to follow out the Nevis connection and found a database of stories related to Bermuda which seems to include something on Five Star, but you have to pay to get the articles. The URL for their search page is http://www.kycnews.com/story_library.asp .

Searching on "Five Star Trust" comes up with one result from 2000 for which the abstract reads, "Abstract: March 31, 2000. Rumors that the law firms of Truman Bodden & Co. in the Cayman Islands and Appleby, Spurling & Kempe in Bermuda are merging are greatly exaggerated, according to AS&K Senior Partner Dianna Kempe. "We have had a relationship with Truman Bodden & Company for some time now and that relationship is beco..."

What seem to be this same site is described at http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=13817... :

"Re: Investigating off-shore scams

Interesting site to check out: http://www.offshorebusiness.com

OBNR provides offshore business information on companies and individuals operating in countries where independent and accurate information is often difficult to obtain. Countries we cover include Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Turks & Caicos Islands, Antigua, Nevis and Panama but no offshore financial services center is beyond our reach.

Since the launch of its investigative newsletters in February, 1997, the company has exposed numerous frauds in the Bermuda-Caribbean region and has been mentioned in The Wall Street Journal, Business
Week, The Washington Post, Portfolio International, USA Today, the Miami Daily Business Review, The Dallas Morning News, BBC Radio, Bloomberg Business News Television and other publications and broadcasts, including the front cover of the March/April, 2000 edition of Offshore Finance USA."

I read a bunch of it earlier but didn't post since someone else already posted links to it. It almost sounded like they were people checking out others they might want to form associations with. Discussing how someone was armed and to be careful when meeting with them. Realy odd stuff.

Not to get off track, though. Just curious.

23. Madsen and K Rove
I'm a newbie. . .this is on topic but could be a seperate thread if any one else cares to post it.

I would like to add something about Madsen with regard to KRove. We all know by now that KR is a master of the frame up. Just after the Dan Rather disaster, Michael Moore commented that he had been handed the Bush National Guard records, a year or more before Rather got them, but decided against using them. (Smart man.) What that sounds like is that somebody had been shopping them around for a couple years and finally got a bite. Notice how about fifteen minutes after the broadcast, a million hackers started screaming, fraud, fraud!!!! There was no th on typewriters back then, etc, etc. This was probably all a part of the frame up. KR just has a few bloggers feed prepackaged info onto the right wing sites and, voila, Dan Rathers well earned reputation as a fine journalist goes circling down the toilet.

I wonder if this didnt happen to Stephen Hatfield with the anthrax case. Well, at least Hatfield is still alive, unlike other experts. . .

Im bringing this up to observe that KR may be particularly interested in downing Madsen based on what Madsen has written about him. Madsen has written a few eye-blistering pieces about himbut he is the only journalist I have seen so far that has suggested that the Rovester, in his private moments, channels J Edgar Hoover. That is KR is both a homosexual and a transvestite. Now that accusation could piss someone off and also, particularly if it is true, make the reporter worth targeting as unreliable. . .

All this makes me think a check for so many million something like the sign outside the door in Fallugha that read : Al Qaadi headquarters. Here, here, look over here! Look, a check!!!! But the real story is right in front of our nose.

I wonder if anyone has any other thoughts about KR, or Hatfield etc?

certainly Rove has discredited his enemies all his career with misinformation that includes the truth but is just enough off to make the whole story smell

I don't think Madsen is a Rather, but he is certainly getting a lot of attention and sometimes attention can blind a person as to reality.

Let's hope he is proceeding with extreme caution in his investigation

Welcome to DU!

34. Madsen has intimated that the Rather story was accurate, but that
the documents that we were shown in the media were dummied up to look false and then they roasted Rather, completely unfairly and in complete deception. To prevent similar tactics Madsen has held back on putting the check on the web but will in time. He showed me a photo of it though.

I enjoy his blog and thought I would share his latest take on Madson

http://cannonfire.blogspot.com /

In his Dec 2nd blog:

Madsen: I've been told (sorry for the vagueness here) that new evidence has come forward indicating he has been the target of a disinformation campaign.

Yes, I know I've been hopping back and forth on this story ever since his first article. Catch me between the hour and the half-hour, and I'll tell you that Madsen is onto something huge. Catch me between the half-hour and the hour, and I'll tell you that the problems with his tale are insurmountable. At this moment, it's 55 minutes past the hour...

29. Why does Madsen need us to do research?
This is the one thing keeping me skeptical of him. Why does he need the help of a message board, if he is such an experienced investigative journalist? This may be the best site on the net, but it seems fishy that someone involved in a story of this magnitude is asking for so much help from a website.

30. Cuz there are so many of us...
Think about it..if you have several hundred people doing Internet searches for even just an hour a day, that is several hundred hours of searches PER DAY. Hopefully/probably goes much quicker with everyone looking for stuff as opposed to one or two people looking thru the Internet. So many puzzle pieces and so little time. One web or blog link can lead to another and..poof..all this incriminating information falls at the feet of the repukes who stole the election. The "internets" just may be their downfall. It's probably why there was that article yesterday with Tenet yesterday saying that the Internet needs tighter control:

http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=467

Shrubites are starting to realize they need a way to control all information people are finding and sharing..remember shrub's "rumors on the internets" comment??

Madsen has told me that he has been in contact with people from Kerry camp/democratic leaders. One time I sent him some information from DU related to fraud, and he sent me an email back saying he was forwarding it to the "right people." So, the information that we pass along to him might also get passed along to top people in the democratic party. Keep posting guys--never know who is reading!

63. a trick he learned from Bev Harris
makes people feel they're involved in "the cause."

Makes it harder for them to admit they've been duped, because they've invested some of themselves into it.

Also helps in the fight against the detractors, gives them a moral advantage, they can say to themselves and to the detractors, "well at least I'm DOING something."

66. Actually Madsen has recieved some extremely valuable research from
DUers. There is real involvement in "the cause" not just a show. You don't get to see all of it here because of the need to protect sources and that causes some delay in release of info unfortunately. I'm hoping that the need for a lot of this will disappear with this next article, and the public info will more closely match the private info. No need to take a cynical approach. Also I think Harris is providing an extremely important service, so I feel we should refrain from friendly fire. If we don't agree with someone who is part of our team, I prefer to just live and let live and not to expend energy in working against them. I'd prefer to just find ways to contribute.

73. I second that, NVMojo
This is an amazing community. I have all but abandoned my mailing lists in favor of DU. But, I must admit, it is addictive!!!

44. company documents
I am an English law graduate & have studied company law. As you will be aware, IOM is a separate jurisdiction from the UK and EU but the principles are similar. The main difference is there is no need to file public accounts - if there were you can bet it wouldn't have been registered in IOM!! However, you should be able to get names and addresses of directors (a director can be a legal person and is very probably another company that does this as a professional service or based in a jurisdiction where no disclosure whatsoever is required - but you might get lucky) and registered office - this may point you in another direction.

62. Thanks for this link! Wayne said it was very useful!
Any other information that will help us find business dealings by Five Star in Isle of Man or elsewhere greatly helps! I sent Madsen the link and he sent me an email saying it was very useful!

72. Trust?
It just occurs to me to ask whether it is Five Star Trust or Five Star Trust Ltd/ Plc (which signifies corporate status in English law) because a trust would not be "registered" unless it was a charitable trust. It may of course be a tax registration; I wouldn't know anything much about taxation law for multinational entities but I'll check to see if that COULD be an issue here. But the word "registered" strikes me as odd in this context.

56. I found this thru a pd. business search service
5 companies:

Five Star Investment (Jersey City, NJ mortgage banker)
Five Star Investment Group Inc (South Gate, CA mortgage brokers)
Five Star Investment Inc (Cincinnati, OH housing construction)
Five Star Property Investment LLC (Stephenson, MI commercial and industrial real estate building, operation and management)
D and B Motels Inc (dba Rodeway Inn, Five Star Investment Group Llc) in Reno, NV (motels)

There are 5 reports on each company through D&B (Dunn & Bradstreet), ranging from $10 to $121 apiece.

Interesting that one of these is in Cincinnati, scene of the crime in the state that tipped the election to Kerry.

Also, is it just coincidence that there's a D and B Motel linked to Five Star, with the reports published by D and B (Dunn & Bradstreet)?

I have addresses and phones on each company, too, that I've e-mailed to Mr. Madsen.

58. What about getting voting machines impounded?
Does anything Madsen have make it easier for us to get voting machines impounded and examined for fraud?

60. Show Madsen this link about difficulties trying to impound vote machines
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

The above link is the response from a lawyer about how they are having trouble getting voting machines impounded to examine for fraud. Maybe Wayne could help her in her efforts.

64. Madsen suggests focusing on Volusia County
jamboi passes Vote4Kerry's question:
Does anything Madsen have make it easier for us to get voting machines
impounded and examined for fraud?

Madsen's response:
"Yes, concentrate on touch screen machines used in Volusia County, FL

Wasn't puttin Madsen down, quite the opposite. It was a joke of levity about how some people have been proclaiming what will DU do without Bev, Bev is so important to DU, DU has no replacment for Bev, etc.... So it was just a lighthearted statement along the lines of 'Who needs Bev? WE GOT MADSEN!" (though of course it was meant lightheartedly, regardless of the Bev situation I still look forward to more of her positive efforts in our fight for democracy)

:)

Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 06:32 PM by jamboi
put overemphasis on any one channel, organization or personality. Like water when we hit an obstacle we have to just keep flowing down the hill. Cliff Arnebeck is emerging as one of my heroes, but even w/ him, Ralph Nader, David Cobb, Wayne Madsen, Michael Badnarik, Bev Harris, Jessie Jackson, Keith Olbermann, etc. if one of them falls down we have to just pick up the flag and move forward.

Holy Shit Man, I couldn't agree with that sentiment more.

I was going to expand on the list for you and include DU'rs that I consider now to be heroes in their own right, but then it occurred to me that the list would run on far too long and would take way too long to collect...

...cause way I see it, all of us here are heroes! (You are also one on my new list, by the way)

75. Touchscreens in Volusia County??
Doesn't Volusia County have an optiscan/paper ballot system, not touchscreens--if I am correct, seems very odd that Madsen would make this mistake. Undermines my hopes/confidence in him a little bit. Am I wrong? If not, how has he made such a mistake about the basic technology of the vote manipulation? We can't impound touchscreens in Volusia if there aren't any.

74. I think it's very important that
investigations continue to be done in FL. I don't buy that Ohio is the Florida of 2004. I believe that could possibly be some misdirection. I'll start doing some internet searches on other search engines besides google and yahoo on five star.
