Anyone been keeping an eye on the Tory press
Edited on Sat May-08-10 07:01 AM by fedsron2us
They have basically gone mental over the election result.

The Mail front page reads 'Now For The Shabby Deals' as it puffs its 16 PAGES OF BRILLIANT REPORTS AND ANALYSIS (surely the readers should be the ones deciding if it is brilliant or not).

The comment section then basically slags of the British voting public with the line The folly of voting for a hung Parliament has created this unholy mess (philosophers would describe as would as a 'category error' since voters can only select a particular candidate not engineer the final result).

Behind the Mails warped ranting it is clear that the reason they are so upset is that they really did not have much influence on the result. The days when it was 'The Sun What Won It' appear to be receding as the internet and the TV debates have pushed the Murdoch and Rothermere press to the margin. Their reaction appears to be to lash out blindly at all and sundry including not only Labour and the Lib Dems but also UKIP and poor old David Cameron who clearly was not right wing enough for their tastes. Quite why the Tory party retreating to its ideological bunker would make Lib Dems and Labour voters want to swap over to the Conservatives is never explained but then coherent logic was never their strong point

If nothing else that was a good result from the election.
