Blair explains Catholicism move
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7780980.stm

"But Mr Blair said he regretted he had not been more adventurous in referring to his own faith while he was prime minister."

I wonder if Mr Blair agrees with his church's attitude to suicide - "it is morally wrong to commit suicide". How very very craven of the press not to pursue him on this.

1. I wonder if he agrees with the 6th commandment?

2. Fucking nutter
I wish he had talked more about faith while he was PM: perhaps we'd have been shot of him sooner, the British public (at least on the mainland) having less stomach than Americans for god-bothering pols. It would have been good to see a pious, Christian PM trying to justify bombing Muslims.

3. Blair a lifetime member of the P2 Lodge.
That's what got him the UK premiership in the first place.

4. I thought Calvi showed that *everyone* in P2 was a lifetime member ...
... i.e., if your membership ended, so did your life ...

6. I think it was all pretty obvious for a long time

Both the religious fervour in general and the Catholic conversion in particular.

Usually seriously religious people in politics cannot conceal it (one of the reasons why the 'secret Muslim' accusations against Obama seemed so ridiculous!)

'Mr Blair said he feared talking about his religious beliefs during his time in Downing Street would lead to people dismissing him as a "nutter". '

Too right, especially when coupled with his religious fanaticism about war - and remember here that both the Archbishop of Canterbury and the late Pope *opposed* the Iraq war.

'But Mr Blair said he regretted he had not been more adventurous in referring to his own faith while he was prime minister.'

I regret it too, as he might have been chucked out sooner.
