FUCK THE USA, FUCK THE WTO
Obviously the USA has just bullied the WTO into handing down a decision that favoured them. Nafta rulings and previous WTO rulings went our way...suddenly this change up? Fuck it, if this is the corrupt way the WTO is going to run then Canada should say - fuck you, we're out... and who's coming with us?
Set up a new Global Trade Group with all the other nations that are being fucked by the WTO in favour of the US

4. I Would Hold Off
Until the ruling comes down in October. This preliminary result allows for both sides to appeal. Also the Canadian side is not saying that no duties are required but that significant damage is not evident. Until we see the final result I am holding off in my decision. I am sure that we shall see some analysis soon on the preliminary finding.

9. Obviously
Someone has the wrong hymn book!

WTO ruling won't end softwood war: Minister

OTTAWA — An American victory in the softwood lumber trade dispute is disappointing but not a crippling blow and won't dramatically change Canada's position in the long-running dispute, Trade Minister Jim Peterson vowed today.

Yet because the NAFTA decisions supersede WTO rulings, Canada won't change its demands that Washington back down and return that money, said Peterson.

"NAFTA states very clearly that in the case of a conflict between NAFTA and WTO, NAFTA prevails," said Barry Appleton, a Toronto-based trade lawyer.

But British Columbia, Canada's largest softwood producer, called for a quick return to negotiations.

Yea, blame those dam easterners! Wonder what industries in the US are sawing up those BC logs?

10. My rant had nothing to do with blaming eastern Canada
Though, that is a valid argument.

However, my rant was against the WTO and their corruption. I don't give a shit what the NAFTA agreement says.

12. Wasn't
You. It was for the "typical radio ranting" about the "east" not having a clue.

The BC minister in this case wants to do an end run around the NAFTA bit and still expect to have the premiers of Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and the others stand up.

Additionally he expects the feds to take a stand, here I mean all the federal parties, while BC is willing to do an end run. He is essentially accepting the US ambassador's line.
