Jim Prentice comes clean on Rahim Jaffer’s ‘representations’

A senior Conservative minister revealed in the House of Commons today that his office received “representations” last year from Rahim Jaffer on behalf of a company.

Environment Minister Jim Prentice said the matter has now been referred to the Commissioner of Lobbying, which is already looking into allegations of unregistered lobbying by Mr. Jaffer, a former Tory MP who lost his Edmonton seat to the NDP in October, 2008.

That Jaffer lobbied, whether they are willing to call it that or not. And that's just what they have decided to reveal. Naturally, they are only going to tell the easy cases.

Digging will reveal more, I am pretty sure.

2. So far not one remark in all these news stories

has proven to be true. It changes by the day, and nothing gets pinned down. The Ethics Commissioner doesn't even know what she's supposed to be investigating. The RCMP says they haven't gotten to it yet, so obviously we aren't in imminent danger. :)
