This week, reporter Peg Fong from the Toronto Star contacted me for comment concerning the national crapblizzard I've been embroiled in since excerpts were leaked of my book Like a Rock: The Chuck Cadman Story, in late February.

The book contains controversial information concerning Dona Cadman's statement to me that Conservative Party representatives offered her husband a $1-million life insurance policy, which he rejected.

I subsequently interviewed Stephen Harper about the matter, on tape, and have been weathering the storm ever since.

The reporter asked me "Why do you think the Conservatives are trying to discredit you?"

This is an important question. It concerns every journalist in Canada who tape records an interview with a politician. Every journalist and writer who works to inform the public about important issues.

(Interesting observations at the end of the article about the reports from the two "audio experts" who analyzed Zytaruk's tape.)

1. Good article
I think this "doctored tape" idea is a distraction by Harper, and Zytaruk is showing that via his comparison of the transcripts of the "audio experts". If they can't even agree upon something as elementary as the words spoken, how can their assessment of other aspects of the tape be taken as valid?

I think a judge will dismiss this whole argument pretty quickly.

2. I've said it before and I'll say it again - when I hear testimony from an RCMP expert
I'll listen to that. Until then, it's just a bunch of paid liars.
