Grey shocked Ablonczy passed over
Former Alberta MP Deborah Grey said she's stunned that Calgary MP Diane Ablonczy was left out of Harper's cabinet. Ablonczy was given the job of parliamentary secretary to the minister of finance.
Grey said the party has always been about appointments based on merit and she said Ablonczy is one of the best the Conservatives have.
"I'm stunned," Grey said. "I think Diane has proved to be one of our brightest and our best, and so she was just considered a shoo-in for the cabinet."
Grey also said the temporary appointment of Fortier to the Senate as minister of public works is a "tough pill to swallow" for Senate reformers.
