1. I wasn't even aware I had to register.
I was thinking about bringing my 17 year old daughter, there won't be a hoard of really drunk people there right?

2. Not at the convention
proper....the hospitality rooms may be a bit rowdy.

Regardless of what is being said here, I suspect the DU meetup to display appropriate decorum if a minor is present.....

5. I've taken my boys when they were in their early teens
The crowds are fine and it's a good learning experience. Plus, they were young enough to be wowed by the presence of VP Al Gore, Sen. Feingold, Sen. Kohl, Reps. Obey & Kind and candidate Howard Dean.

You and your daughter should have no trouble.

6. Be a delegate if you're going to the convention!
If you're going to the convention you should consider signing up to be a delegate so that you can actually participate instead of just being an observer. As a delegate you get to vote on the resolutions and on the party leadership. You also get taken a lot more seriously, and it makes the whole experience more fun!

Registering on the DPW site doesn't make you a delegate. Delegates represent county Democratic parties, so you have to go through your county party to become a delegate. Check your county party website, or call or email your county chair. Here's a link to find contact info for all the county parties: orchidforchange.com/wi/index.php?display=GetLocal

You do have to be a Democratic Party of Wisconsin member to be a delegate, and the deadline to become a delegate is two weeks before the convention, so it's coming up fast.

One of the most important things delegates do is to choose the DPW leaders. The direction of the party for the next two years will be determined at this convention. There are two candidates for chair, and I'll put in a shameless plug here for my guy, Jeff Rammelt.

I hope to see you all there. Get involved and work for change!

7. Thanks for mentioning this
The State Party site does mention it also but it's good to be reminded.

In some counties, delegate slots go begging...check with your county party officials......

I am a delegate so I had a built-in bias in assuming that a lot of DUers were/are delegates. Sorry if there was some confusion.
