Amid the furor over union rights, another abomination
Walker wants to cripple the Medicaid program and Badger Care.

Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill would give his administration sweeping powers to reshape state health programs covering more than 1 million state residents.

Under the bill, the administration's rewrite of the Medicaid program would be reviewed only by the Legislature's budget committee, which has a broader margin of control for majority Republican lawmakers than any other committee.

The proposal would allow Walker's Department of Health Services to change state laws dealing with medical care for children, parents and childless adults, nursing home care for the elderly, and long-term care for the elderly and disabled outside of nursing homes. The programs affected would include the BadgerCare Plus and BadgerCare Core plans, FamilyCare and potentially SeniorCare.

"It's a shockingly broad delegation of legislative authority to the Department of Health Services," said Jon Peacock, research director for the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families. "This is the authority to do almost anything to substantially reduce eligibility for children, parents, and childless adults, to increase premiums, to change renewal processes, to reduce services, and to change rates. It covers everything."

When will it end?

1. I've been SCREAMING
about this since last Friday.

Walker's Secretary of DHS came out of THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION where he co-authored a paper urging individual states to OPT OUT OF ALL MEDICAIDE except for long-term care!!!

Walker should ask the HMOs, Hospitals and Medical Care Providers how they feel about BADGERCARE PLUS! They are now getting paid for providing health care services that they previously had to write off as charity or uncollectable debts. In addition, because people don't have to worry about being hounded by bill collectors if they get medical treatment that they cannot afford, people have been getting more PREVENTIVE HEALTH AND DENTAL CARE!

Walker doesn't get it. It's not a bleeding heart liberal program...it's a program that REDUCES the cost of health care by not forcing us all to pay the cost of the uncovered and uninsured and also because by intervening early, we are avoiding the most costly medical treatments.

HE
DOESN'T
GET
IT!

2. He gets it......he just doesn't care.
It doesn't fit the "All Government is bad" mantra.

This assclown may very well get recalled in a year but it may be to late.

6. No, there is a recall election
It's set for six weeks after the petitions are approved and certified. The person being recalled is a candidate (unless he resigns), plus whoever else files to run. If there are more than two candidates (and you can bet there will be), the primary is on that date and the recall election four weeks later.

10. I feel for you and see the same thing
Minnesota came close and we would have the exact same thing had Mark Dayton (DFL) not been elected governor as a major check on the worst of the worst over here. The damage Walker et al are doing to Wisconsin will be felt for a long time. The sad thing is it is completely ideological and not based in the real world and I see this as a type of payback in their eyes to the greater Dane County area (perceptions and misconceptions Republicans have).

8. I seem to recall Mark Green's campaign claiming dems
...were going to take away nursing home funding.

Well, that's what his campaign spin said...on DOVE HEALTHCARE's STATIONARY...the same letter that they sent to the family members of their residents, calling for Green's election.
