Walker & Co. Exaggerating Wisconsin Budget Deficit
Check out this story on Wispolitics:

http://budget.wispolitics.com/2010/11/despite-gop-complaints-schooff-insists.html

Walker & Co. are exaggerating the severity of the budget deficit. I presume their objectives are:

1. Have a bigger to deficit to justify draconian cuts;

2. Be in a position 4 years from now to claim they overcame a bigger deficit than what was actually the case.

Lies can be useful. I hope the press doesn't let them get away with this.

1. Walker is a liar and an idiot.
Not necessarily in that order.

2. The press
will let Walker get away with anything he wants. For some reason, at least here in Mke, Walker is adored with nigh-on worship.

3. Here's a national article that say WI's deficit is $3.1 Billion
Politico covers that National Governor's Association meeting at which Walker spoke. The article states matter-of-factly that Walker is facing a $3.1 Billion deficit.

Who do we trust to calculate an accurate number?

4. It's still smaller than the $6bn deficit the Dems dealt with last time
And they managed to do it on time for the first time in decades. We are so schtupt.

5. Since the number in the article isn't sourced
it may be they're just taking Scottie's talking points. They got his quote, it wouldn't be surprising to find they used his office for the budget number too.

6. Good point, AleksS,
The press are so sloppy. If it was just Walker's talking point, the article state it as such.
