Two years ago for state elections, my husband and I waited in line for over an hour to vote. I made some comment that we never had this problem in the previous place where we lived. It turns out that the municipality that we lived in had 4 polling places and this one has only 1. Our previous municipality was only about 10% bigger in population. These municipalities are both classified by Wisconsin law as "cities" although they have less than 10,000 residents. I know that they aren't going to open another polling place for this election. I was just wondering why this would be and whether it is a a state, county, or city decision. I also wondered if not having enough polling places per population could dienfranchise voters deterred by long lines and whether or not there was some kind of maximum number of voters per polling place.
