Lying, scumbag, Wisconsin GOP bastards - more absentee ballot BS
They just robo-called me, promising an absentee ballot application. They lied their asses off blasting Dems for their pork barrel spending and over the top ear-marks. "If you're tired of earmarks like the bridge to nowhere, vote Republican." AAAARRRRRGGGGH.

They continue to think that if they lie often enough, everyone will believe it.

Can't wait to see what kind of absentee ballot application I'll get. There's no way the Wisconsin GOP should be mistaking me or anyone in my household for a puke. Ten bucks (cuz that's all I got) says this is some supremely sick effort to disenfranchise Democrats.

1. We got the same call
and we, also, are looking forward to the application... and to seeing the address to which the completed application is supposed to be sent.

By the way, my partner and I have volunteered for Counsel for Change (he's an attorney, I'm not), so I think it's very nice of the GOP to provide us with an update on what they're up to.

Please remind everyone to take appropriate ID and proof of residence to the polls (despite the fact that it shouldn't be required), no matter how sure you are that you're properly registered. And if at all possible, vote absentee in person ahead of time. That gives you the opportunity to resolve any registration issues that might "crop up."

2. I don't think any party should be allowed to mail out
applications for absentee ballots. Those should be standardized, official forms, obtainable only through the state elections boards. (Not that THEY are all that trustworthy on other issues...)

4. I'll take that one step farther
I think not only should it be illegal for either party to mail those forms out, I think there should be one single federal standard for all federal elections -- and this clearly should prohibit electronic voting and make the qualifications for federal elections exactly the same in every single state. It's one thing if states want to argue that they should be able to run their state elections how they want but in a federal election every US citizen should have the EXACT SAME requirements to and method of voting. We have federal laws regarding voting age, why should that not be extended to cover the entire process?
