Barr petition drive falls short (in WV)
CHARLESTON -- Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr failed to submit enough signatures to get on West Virginia's ballot.

Sarah Bailey, spokeswoman for Secretary of State Betty Ireland, said Friday that the former Georgia congressman's campaign submitted only 13,036 signatures. State law requires third-party candidates to submit by Aug. 1 petitions containing the valid signatures of 15,118 registered voters.

Mike Ferguson of the Barr campaign says he expects to file a lawsuit challenging the deadline, which he says is arbitrary.

Another third-party candidate had no trouble meeting the requirement. Bailey says Independent Party candidate Ralph Nader turned in more than 17,000 valid signatures.

2. Too bad, Barr would have siphoned off some McLame votes.
The hardcore right wing doesn't like McCain, thinking he's too far to the center. They've grown accustomed to their extremists, Bush and Cheney. I guess some of them will go for Nader. I really hope WV goes for Obama in November but predictions are that we will not.

3. Bob should have named his VP...
