3. My West Virginia Day . . .
is being spent in the flat canyons of downtown Chicago. I'm here on a business trip, teaching a software class. But, oh how I miss the green, rolling hills! Lift a glass for me, in celebration of the day.

A. James gave me a uncirculated 63 Kennedy half -which I still have to this day in it's original container.

My father and his lifelong fishing buddy took us 4 boys camping for a week on the banks of the Little Coal river, about 3 miles above where it meets the Big Coal. We had a canoe and made good use of it. We 4 boys agreed that we would so swimming in the river every morning just as soon as we woke up. I was 14 years old and life was good.

8. Right on!
By a happy coincidence, I---living in NYC these days---happened to be back in WV on the day, visiting my sister's family in Bridgeport. It was great to toast our beautiful state's birthday around the firepit that evening.
Montani Semper Liberi!
