LTTE backlash on the Va. Gov. race TV ads
Make sure you read that last one. These are all from the Richmond Times-Dispatch (as mentioned on Fox News) very conservative, there must be real trouble if all the letters are like this (most are).

_____
Editor, Times-Dispatch: You can tell a great deal about a candidate by the ads he runs. What kind of man uses the grief of a woman whose husband has been murdered for political gain? What kind of man appears to look forward to the opportunity to execute people?

If his ads are any indication of the kind of man Jerry Kilgore is, I wouldn't want him as a neighbor -- much less as my governor. Robert Redmon. midlothian.
____

Editor, Times-Dispatch: Let me see if I have this straight. Time Kaine, a committed Christian who knows that his Lord was unjustly executed on the order of a politically motivated provincial governor, has a conscience. Jerry Kilgore's attacks, on the other hand, are pure politics, certainly provincial, and unconscionable.

Governor Pontius Kilgore? Please, God, no! Mark E. Biddle. richmond.
_____

Kaine, along with other criminal-defense lawyers, was defending and guaranteeing the rights of citizens accused under our Constitution. God bless him and the countless other criminal-defense lawyers who defend the rights of our fellow citizens every day in court.

As a lawyer, indeed the Commonwealth's highest lawyer, Kilgore should have known that. Obviously, he is a politician first and lawyer a distant second. Murray J. Janus. richmond.
_____

Editor, Times-Dispatch: All lawyers are ethically required to handle any case in which they are competent. Tim Kaine happened to be quite competent in death penalty cases. Few lawyers are.

It is unethical for a member of the bar, such as Jerry Kilgore, to criticize a fellow lawyer for handling cases as required by the Code of Professional Responsibility. Jerry Kilgore's latest low-ball TV ads do exactly that. They show no positive reasons that Kilgore is fit to become governor. It is sad he has nothing positive to say.

As attorney general, Kilgore made it as difficult as possible for birth-injured babies to be admitted to Virginia's birth-injury program. He made many potential beneficiaries jump through needless hoops until they died, thereby limiting or even eliminating their claims.

He is "pro-life" -- until birth.

Kilgore's performance as a public official has already been reprehensible. We do not need him elected governor to learn any more about who he really is. H. Watkins Ellerson. hadensville.

1. Excellent Post

Too bad I live down here in Va. Beach...the Pilot is clueless.

I've been posting the following on every forum, and blog that I come in contact with.

A lot of political insiders are saying that the Virginia governors race might be a pre-cursor of things to come. Everyone should be watching this one.

Jerry Kilgore, a Republican candidate in a red-state isn't having as easy a time of it as many pundits thought he would.

Jerryhas used the standard, republican campaign-by-numbers strategy that has so far allowed them to gain control of almost every facet of the Federal Government today…and many state Govt’s as well, but it appears that voters may have finally had enough of the divide and conquer nature of Republican campaigning.

Kilgore even hired the same media outfit who won over Georgia voters by morphing a Viet Nam war veteran who lost two legs and an arm in Vietnam into a likeness of Osama Bin Laden -to show that he was unpatriotic- and who later created the brilliant Swift Boat ads.

...early polls indicate that this strategy may be backfiring.

This run-of-the-mill GOP campaign strategy has taken Jerry Kilgore from being up 10 points in September to being behind by 2 points in October.

We HAVE to get Google and other Search Engines to find http://www.therealjerrykilgore.com when someone does a search for Jerry Kilgore
