He is the one introducing the Ban on Gay Marriage here in TX. Another trick you know to get the wrong voters to the ballot box in 2006.

Dear Fellow Democrat:
As you know, the first move by Texas Republicans to prepare for the upcoming legislative session was to file a proposed amendment to the state constitution to ban gay marriage, which is already against state law. The following opinion piece originally appeared in the Washington Post and was reprinted this morning in the Austin American-Statesman. It expresses the bankrupt moral values behind this latest GOP-led attempt to divide our state.
If you are like me and you are sick and tired of Republicans using hate to divide Texans, please contribute to our party today so we can keep the fight strong in Austin and all over our state.
And if you can’t give right now, or you just feel like doing a little something extra, please send a message to Rep. Warren Chisum, the Republican who filed this bill. Tell him that since gay marriage is already illegal in our state, the only purpose of this bill can be to promote hate and to divide Texas families.

my letter to the master dividerDr Mr. Chisum
Why on earth would you even think of introducing such legislation in TX after the severe division in TX became so clear after the election? People don't need more divisive legislation. We don't need another hate law. There is no law that allows gay marriage in this state, and we don't need one to ban it. Can you find something better to do with your time? The money spent for your seat will be wasted on this issue. This is NOT an issue in TX and for you to do this when kids need health care, and we need local school funding and housing for people is a SIN.
This is not Christian. Jesus was inclusive and sat with all kinds. He did not make a life of dividing people from one another. I hope that GOD talks to you about this, and that you will rethink this. Jesus said, there is one that that feasts unto the Lord, and one man fast unto the Lord. He pretty much is telling you to let people worship as they see fit.
Any law you write that is for the purpose of banning gay marriage although it is already illegal in this state can be seen as no more than an attempt to impose the dogma of your faith upon the rest of the citizenry. I am sure you can find the single scripture in Romans that will substantiate your ideals, but this is not at issue. No one cares one wit what one church will recognize as opposed to another. This is not a theocracy yet, and if I have to fight to the death it will never become one.
Otherwise good people were able to justify slavery and apartheid all over the world by making one person less important or valid than another, don't make us learn old lessons once again.
''We struggled against apartheid because we were being blamed and made to suffer for something we could do nothing about. It is the same with homosexuality. The orientation is a given, not a matter of choice. It would be crazy for someone to choose to be gay, given the homophobia that is present.'' Archbishop Desmond Tutu
Find the proper place for your energy. I promise you this, that if you do this, there will be one person out here that will be looking for someone to go against you on your next re-election and making sure they get as many dollars from people all across the nation as is humanly possible to defeat you.
You were elected to represent the people in your district, and not impose your dogma on the state. Do you job and stop dividing Texans.
