Houston Chronicle 9/12/10Perry suggests feds created budget troubleAUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry, who likes to blame the Obama administration and Congress for pretty much everything, is in a peculiar position when he lays Texas’ budget problems at their feet.
Pressed about a shortfall some estimate at $18 billion or higher through the next two years, the GOP governor took issue with Democrat Bill White’s contention that he wants to hide the fiscal facts.

Well, Washington did send Texas more than $12 billion in stimulus money for the current budget period. Texas’ use of such one-time money is contributing to the looming hole in the next budget.

Perry’s presumably talking about the big economic picture. But some leaders — even some concerned about federal spending — have said Texas will be hammered if the federal government cuts the higher federal Medicaid match that helped fund the current budget. That could cost Texas $4.4 billion over the next two-year budget, says Senate Finance Chairman Steve Ogden, R-Bryan.
Perry’s been pressed hard on the budget issue after Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin, wrote GOP Comptroller Susan Combs asking for an updated revenue estimate ahead of schedule (she’s due to make an official estimate in January). Perry called Watson’s request "bizarre" and politically tinged. White’s camp said Perry wants to hide the facts until after the election.
Whiner Perry passing the budget deficit hole up the line. So what the hell use is he, if he's not responsible for anything? Oh he wants to take credit for the "better economy" in Texas than the rest of the country, but as far as the looming budget crisis - not his fault. Plus he has no solutions for it either. He's running a "faith based" campaign. Just trust him. Yeah right!
What a big cry baby.
