2. straight party voting
Novice question but I have read up on a few candidates and know who I want for Gov. but dont know much about many of them. Can you vote straight Dem in the Primary elections?

3. You can't vote "straight party" in a primary
Everyone one the ballot is a Dem, or at least purports to be.

5. Last day to vote early is this Friday 2/26!
Reminder about early voting ending this Friday!

And by the way the numbers are way up from 2006.
Dallas Morning News 2/23/10
Texans turning out in big numbers for primaries

AUSTIN – Texans are turning out in big numbers in this year's primaries, buoyed by a high-profile race for governor with candidates crisscrossing the state and spending millions on TV.

In the first week of early voting, which began Feb. 16, twice as many Texas voters cast ballots as four years ago, according to the secretary of state's tally of the top 15 counties.

Some counties are reporting early turnout more than three times as high as in 2006, the last year comparable election.

"Voters are tuned in," said David Prindle, a political scientist at the University of Texas at Austin. "They're especially interested in the Republican side, but the Democratic side, too."

I just hope that the high turnout in the R primary isn't for Perry. We need him to go into the runoff hurting.

6. I know we all want a Republican runoff
But last night I saw a new Perry ad that anti-Washington, rather than trashing KBH. I suspect he now thinks he has it in the bag.

Well, we shall see.

7. Nick Anderson toon in the Houston Chronicle

And then there's this:
First Reading blog AAS 2/23/10
For now, White has healthy cash lead
(snip)

The eight-day-out fundraising reports should start showing up online today.

Gov. Rick Perry will report that he raised $852,000 in the last month and has $2.5 million on hand.

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison will report that she raised about $1.1 million and has about $2.3 million.

Meanwhile Democratic frontrunner Bill White raised $2.2 million and has $5.4 million on hand.

So among the major candidates, White has an unusually healthy lead at this point. And it’s not as if he’s been spending all his money — he’s been advertising heavily over the last several weeks. This doesn’t mean that he will have more money in the likely event that he makes it to the general election. Perry and Hutchison can raise a ton of money in a hurry. But, clearly, so can Bill White.

Steady as we go.

10. What did you ask?
I was on a TDP webinar training call for precinct conventions.

This is going to be so much easier than 2008.

11. I asked about his priorities if we got him in.
Tax restructuring, problems with raising college tuition and a couple of other things were part of his answer. He later stuck in a health care reference that I had talked to the screener about.

It's Ronnie Earle's Birthday today and his aide is wishing him Happy Birthday Today!
