Vandals, thieves target political signs: Actions happen every election, offical say, and most people aren't caught
by Isadora Vail and Miguel Liscano

>>>>It's presidential campaign season, and signs being stolen from a few residential yards can almost be expected. This year is no exception.

Cedar Park police said Tuesday that they have had three reports from residents who each have had their campaign signs for Barack Obama stolen several times. Officers took fingerprints from a John McCain sign that replaced one of the stolen Obama signs, but Capt. Jeff Hayes said finding a match isn't a priority and could take months.

"I understand people say it's just a sign, but when we get to someone's house and it's the third time it's happened, it gets to be ridiculous," Hayes said. "But most of the time, we don't have a suspect."

Ron Vorndran, who lives in Cedar Park, said he spotted about 10 Obama signs in a ditch near his house on Old Mill Road.

"It just looked like a bunch of kids picked them up and destroyed them so they couldn't be used again," he said>>>>

1. I've also been hearing about
folks getting harassed by neighbors for having Obama signs up. It's so ridiculous.

:silly:

2. Not only is it ridiculous...
but it could get worse. Its not too big a step from violating someone's private property to throwing a molotov cocktail in their window.

5. strange place I reside.
I am the only person around that has Obama signs in their yard. I am on signs #7 & #8. So far, shot, ripped up, run over by ATVs and yes...stolen. I hope they are having a fucking blast, cause I am! I can handle the vandalism, drive by shootings, hit-and-runs and the "thieving" cause "That One" is gonna win! BIG!

3. ya know, when I was getting my sign ready
I just happened(tm) to be cooking with some oil that "accidently" had a lot of red pepper mixed in and just by chance that mixture just happened(tm) to get all over the sign. Gee I sure hope some poor miscreant does not get that on their hands and then just happen(tm) to wipe their eyes or scratch their balls :)

4. My neighbor in Sacramento had his signs stolen and his
garage door spray painted with "Obama ship of fools". It made most of the TV news and the Sacto Bee (McClatchy). It sounds like it was a kid doing stupid stuff, but whoever did it probably didn't know my neighbor is Chair of the Sacramento County Democratic Party as well as the president of the IBEW Local. He's a great guy, too.
