SIGH, having to deal with the small minds here in Lubbock.
It's all about the war and terror for them. Or "all politicians are the same, I'll just vote for McCain." "or he is a christian."

But the worst I have seen around here, and I wish I had a camera to post it here.

It was a huge white pick up with McCain 08 in big letters on one side, and "Don't vote for the N***A" on the other side.

Trying to argue with them on the issues, reminds me of trying to herd cats. I have to hear one more time "McCain is a simple man, just like us, Obama is an elitist." I am going to smack someone. I did get one to convert to voting for Obama. So, YEEEAH! 1 down 90 something thousand to go.

4. Welcome to DU, jrtesq!
Can't say I've seen those stickers around Austin. What part of Austin do you live in?

:hi:

6. Up north
I live up North, but I work downtown.

I know this sounds cliche, but both stickers were on pickups. I followed one all the way downtown, and we even took the same exit. This guy had several NRA stickers on the truck also.

The other was on the back of a very nice pickup. It looked like a "contractor's" pickup, but I didn't see any company markings. I saw it up near Pflugerville.

Really, I see Ron Paul stickers all over the place. I NEVER see a McCain sticker. Well, I think I saw one in the parking garage downtown.

11. I live in central Austin, just south of the river
Lots of Paulistas in Austin and I've even seen a McCain sign in my neck of the woods. Oh well they do make up 20% of our neighborhood. Some of them are bound to stick a sign in their yard.

3. They have minds in Lubbock?
I know a lot of people FROM Lubbock. Back in the 70's it was "Lubbock or leave it" and most of them came to Austin.

5. texas1928 buy a cheap disposable camera please
You need to get a shot of those "Don't vote for the N***A" bumper stickers. That is not right. Those stickers need to be exposed and the people who blatantly put those racist stickers on their vehicles need to be called out for it.

That is totally disgusting!

Talk to them about that elitist Cindy McCain's $300,000 ensemble she wore to the RNC convention. That is so down to earth!

8. This was not a bumper sticker it was written on the sides in big letters.
I wonder if the idiot put it in permanent ink or what. If I see it, I have a camera on my new phone so I can get a pic of it. I know for a fact the person does not go to the east side of Lubbock, they would not make it out alive.

7. I am getting lots of people who say they want the repukes out
but "can't vote for Obama. Why, I ask and get no answer. They are either not saying because they are embarrassed to say or they are in denial, but it is racial prejudice plain and simple.(One of these people ran in the statewide Dem primary.) Oh, btw, I think those stickers will only appeal to those who would never have voted Democratic and will disgust most others.

12. Please take pictures and send them to me
I'm working on something about racism in Texas.

And when I talk to other Texans like that, I say, "Well, I don't know. I'm just planning to vote for someone smart this time. Look what the last good old boy got us."

I also have used, "Oh, those folks are scaring you again with their politics of fear. They want you to be afraid--very afraid. They want you to be that fraidy cat! They are counting on it so they can lie to you some more!" And every Texan knows they were had, whether they admit it or not.

And if you know Texans, that will just piss them off and make them think. They will start to think they are being manipulated. Which, of course, they are.

13. I feel for you
I once had someone from Lubbock tell me straight-faced that FDR caused the Great Depression and that was why he was a republican. You just have to laugh and walk away sometimes. :)
