Texas Supremes under investigation - misuse of campaign cash
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 10:13 PM by Dover
Wow, is there an organized effort to bring down the Tx. Supremes?
Seems like the dirt is being exposed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Texas Supreme Court Justice Nathan Hecht says he used campaign cash to pay for dozens of flights to his hometown last year, because he was campaigning.

Republican Hecht, who has a house in the Dallas area, is not up for re-election until 2012.

Hecht reported 48 payments to airlines for in-state trips last year. The justice Wednesday acknowledged "a good bit" of them were for travel to Carrollton.

Using political contributions for personal use is against state law.

Texas Watch plans to file a complaint with the Texas Ethics Commission.

Hecht last year successfully fought a judicial sanction that alleged he abused his office to promote Harriet Miers for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court...cont'd

If guilty this would likely tarnish their reputations but legally would only result in
reimbursement of funds they used.

1. Another example of their philosophy that the law doesn't apply to them
The court has always had its problems, these are just bubbling to the surface now.

Good time to start taking back the court since this bunch is so corrupt.

2. That's the core of all our current troubles, if you ask me
One set of rules for "us," another for "them."
