Have you heard the latest education funding scheme? Lower property taxes, raise the "sin tax" on alcohol, cigarettes, and topless bars. Yep, lap dances for education. Of course, this is terribly regressive!! Naturally the repubs want to restrict property taxes, which are progressive. Notice cigarettes will have increased taxes, but not cigars.

9. DriveDemocracy is growing

Glenn Smith, the founder of drivedemocracy.org was at the Democratic Party Meetup on Wednesday. At that time he said that 2000 people had already signed up. He was at the Kerry Meetup Thursday night and by that time 5000 were onboard. Democracy for Texas has sent out an email to everyone on its list about the new organization and no doubt others are doing so too.

One subject that came up last night was that people wanted some training in talking politics to neighbors. Glenn said he would set something up, so stay tuned for details.

I'm excited. We are not going to be living under Rethug tyranny forever folks!

now have almost 10,000 on board. Please pass this on and lets get these comments on to our local idiot in charge Perry.

We need an equitable funding system and a more fair tax system.

Please also take a look at Rep. Eddie Rodriguez' web site for an income tax in Texas. Most of us will be much better off.
