I had a great time at the convention (and afterward)...until...
So, I check out of my hotel (The Worthington) and have my car brought around by the valet. I walk around the front end and down the driver's side, heading for the trunk when I see this:

The Worthington staff was very nice and professional and someone will be contacting me tomorrow to discuss the matter.

Oh well. It could have been worse.

3. Damn! But at least it could have been worse...
We headed to Ft. Worth on Friday morning. On Thursday morning, however, I took our car to the dealership because it had developed a very strange and ominous vibration under the hood. I was hoping that a tune-up would solve it, but I knew that my timing belt was almost due to be replaced. As it turned out, the timing belt was going out early - and the crank pulley it was wrapped around separated when they pulled it off the car to change the belt.

That resulted in me spending $500 for car repairs, which was about $250 more than I had originally hoped for. But at least it possibly protected us from getting stranded somewhere on I-30 on the way to the convention. Even with AAA membership to help with towing and stuff, that would have been a world of no fun.

4. Ooooh...ouch!
That could have been really bad. At least you caught the belt early. If it had gone out, you'd have been buying a new engine.

Let's hope our next statewide DU gathering isn't in two years. Let's do it again for Chris Bell's inauguration!!

33. Didn't make it to the Bell party
We all went to Billy Miner's for drinks (and food for those of us starving!) It just seemed like this convention was more work, not like in Houston where there were parties galore. But that's okay. It was exciting to be part of a convention with electricity (not the kind bloggers wanted) and suspense.

Hey maybe that was a result of crashing the party or the party being crashed. Who knows? I really hope the person that hit you, made it home safely and that they weren't a Democrat.

I hope you don't get the run around by the Worthington. You'll have to keep us posted on that one.

Other than that I'm glad you got to enjoy your stay here.

I've never spent much time there previous to this. I liked downtown. I need to get back and do some more exploring. Good thing I have a pretty native guide for a girlfriend. ;)

I'd enjoy seeing you again next time you're in town.

26. Yes, I'm here...
Howdy Y'all!

You know, I'm really pissed right now. Someone just sent me a qoute from the Sunday DMN. Molly Beth Malcolm said " 'Moderates control this party,' a jubilant Molly Beth Malcolm, a former party chairwoman from Texarkana, declared after the vote."

I was going to leave all this alone but I'm about ready to tear the bitch a new one. How fucking LAME. Is it any wonder how someone who can so thoroughly miss the point of all this could have done such a bad job when she was chair?

29. The woman in red
MBM the chairwoman of the losing wing of the Democratic Party. Well the word "moderate" just became a four letter cuss word. Any wing of the party where Molly Beth is the spokeswoman and claiming control is totally delusional.

If Richie is smart he better reel her in. She is a lightning rod.

:grr:

35. I have thought that so many times
I really wonder about these converted republicans. I mean I really welcome people who wake up and admit that they didn't know they were really Democrats all their lives. Some were raised as republicans and when they got to be adults, they made their choice to be a Democrat. But people like Molly Beth make me nervous. They might just be devious enough to work as double agents, pretend to be Democrats while they really are republican operatives. MBM could probably pull that off, you know.

Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 12:38 PM by VelmaD
I'm still pissed about the PPC.

And if she really believes the moderates are in control of the party...she must have been in the little girl's room when David Van Os was giving his speech. It was pretty damn easy to see what the actual rank and file want in our party...and it ain't moderates.

Boyd Ritchie in the dent. Must be the drying out period. How some people can party like that while putting peer pressure on some of us to follow. oh, welcome McBlogger. Seriously, I had a great time and enjoyed meeting those for the first time and getting reacquainted with others.

Tip of the hat to the Pour House. Like cigarettes and fast food, the bar is part of life's rich tapestry. You know you shouldn't go there, but you can't help it.
