Did anyone get the "so called" Census test in the mail?
I got this thing in the mail a few days ago, called a census test and indicating on the front that it was required by law to take it. This smacks SO MUCH of another repug redistricting plan, collecting new information on population distribution. I'm sure the real census is the only one that MAY be required to submit. Mine was filed appropriately. Hee, hee. :)

1. I had a woman for the Census office in Ft Worth come to my home
I am disabled and she had a long and detailed health questionnaire. How much had I spent on Doctors, How many times had I been to Emergency Rooms? How many Hospitalizations?

She couldn't find the gate and left a note with her card for an appointment. Very wierd...

2. We got the form and replied.
Probably nearly a month ago. A week or so before it came, we got a card announcing that it was coming. My wife did the form, but didn't see anything TOO suspicious. But I would put nothing past the republicans.

3. something smells fishy
The Census is taken every 10 years by people who go house to house. It isn't required law to cooperate with them.

5. Uh...wrong...
they don't send people to every house...most census forms are mailed out to people and returned by mail. And yes, the big, nationwide census is every 10 years...but the census bureau does many projects in the interim where they survey various subpopulations and statistical samples. These interim projects tend to be much more detailed than the questions they ask on the 10 year census. You might consider visiting the Census Bureau webpage to learn more about what they do. http://www.census.gov I do believe.

4. it does't seem strange to me
Some government census workers came ot my campus a few weeks ago to recruit for a 2006 "test census." Apparently they are testing new methods such as equipping door-to-door workers with GPS units. Just this week I filled out a really brief census form handed out by my RA.
