Dallas Morning News wants Bush library in Dallas
Good God, these people are totally out of touch--or maybe Rove is paying them for editorials like this. As poll numbers slide and other papers finally admit what the rest of us have known all along, the staff at the Dallas Morning News carry on as blissfully ignorant cheerleaders for the worst president ever.

Check out this pitch for the presidential library:

Presidential Library: Dallas and Bush history are a natural fit
http://www.dallasnews.com/s/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-smu_12edi.ART.State.Edition1.94d70d2.html

Excerpt:
"If you'll pardon our hometown pride, we naturally think Dallas and Southern Methodist University are the best place for President Bush's library... :puke:

"...Dallas' intellectual life would take on a new dimension. The Bush library and Dallas seem like natural partners."

Sounds like an insult to me, like they're Dallasites a bunch of morons.

I have a good idea of where to put the Presidential library--I-35, somewhere between Dallas and Austin; it could be one of those regional oddities, like those museums you see every now and then dedicated to the world's largest ball of string.

"Worst President Ever," the billboard would scream in lurid colors, "Next exit."

The library could be a "theme" attraction; to go in, you'd have to sign a loyalty oath and be patted down by actors dressed as secret service agents. "Plants" wearing t-shirts saying "Don't blame me, I voted for Kerry" would kick and scream as they were escorted out.

The library would be full of Rovian lies--how Iraq was a success, how Bush was God's choice for President; it would be full of photo ops showing his "compassion" as he served up fake turkey and fake emotion to victims of his disastrous administration.

If you'd like to tell the Dallas Morning News where they can put their library, email your comments to:

2. I have lived in Texas my whole life and I am REPULSED by
all of these "Bush" buildings, parks, roads, airports, etc. What do the Bush's go around and erect these trophies and name them after themselves. Personally, I would like them all renamed...it's disgraceful.

5. They'll need room for his coloring books.
That might take up an entire shelf.

6. If the BFEE really did have something to do with JFK's
assassination, maybe they shouldn't build a Bush library in the town where JFK's death is the only other tourist draw. The two names might become inextricably linked.

7. A Bush library. Interesting concept.
Instead of needing a library card to view materials, a court order will be required.

13. That would fit in with my "theme park" idea
In order to read anything, you have to submit a FOIA. They'll "get back to you" if your request is granted.

8. That's easily done. Give him the
sixth floor of the Texas State Book Depository building. One shelf with My Pet Goat on one end of the floor. And on the other end, one shelf with the 2 or 3 documents that weren't classified double super-secret-never-show-anyone--or shredded and burned--that his administration generated and which he even bothered to read.

10. Look at the bright side
All these historians researching and digging into the presidential papers of the most secretive, inept, corrupt, discredited administration in US history. All these train-wreck tourists who want to take a peek at the impeached presidential museum. And with all your cool theme park ideas. This would be good for our economy!!

The downside: Does Dallas want another presidential black eye?

11. You know what's worse?
The idea that Shrub himself plans to take up residence in Big D, somewhere in Highland Park. I'd rather have neither, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick the library over the loon himself.

17. Yeah, I'm surprised he hasn't dumped the Crawford pig farm already
He's more at home with Highland Park country club snobs than regular country folk. The "ranch" is all a prop, ready to be dumped when it's served its purpose, like so many ruined people in his life. I just hate the talk that he's going to settle here in his retirement. There's no federal prison here!

24. Good point
He can't retire in Highland Park. He'll be in one of these other fine neighborhoods:

14. I'm working on it
Maybe the library could be part of the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum & Palace of Wax on 183. Bush, Cheney & wives already look like wax figures, so they'd fit right in. And you know what future generations will think of the Bush Administration:

"Half the country voted for this idiot--BELIEVE IT OR NOT!"

23. I doubt they'll print my LTTE
On the blog, they were all excited one time upon learning that Shrubya actually reads the DMN (or someone reads it to him). They wouldn't want their hero to know one of their readers thinks of him as a "regional oddity."

It was great meeting you, too! :hi: You didn't miss much by leaving early.

18. Has Dallas pre-emptively changed a street name?
I remember when College Station was luring (ultimately successfully) to get the George H. W. Bush Library. The city changed the name of Jersey Dr. to George Bush Dr. I kept calling it Jersey. Screw 'em.

25. Great location
would be the snake farm near New Braunfels. Put a wing in the goat pens and call it a "working ranch". Of course, then all the poor animals would have to put up with the unbearable stench.
