Senate candidate Corker turns to Swift Boat ad vet
This is a headline in the Chattanooga Times Free Press, 4/24/05, section A. I've always been of the mindset that Corker is a weasel, frat-rat and apparently he is planning to get dirty in his campaign. The Times Free Press site is a registration site and half the time I can't find anything that I'm looking for so I don't have a link for this.

Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Bob Corker's campaign has hired a politcal strategist who last year helped the group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth develop ads attacking unsuccessful Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.

The consultant, Chris LaCivita, has assisted Mr. Corker in organizing his campaign and developing an overall strategy, Corker campaign adviser Heath Thompson said last week.

"Basically, Chris has a wealth of experience in terms of successful big races and especially Senate races," Mr. Thompson said. "He's been focusing on the big picture in terms of the strategy and the road map of how you take a Senate campaign from beginning to end and do it successfully."

1. fighting dirty

here's hoping he slings a lot of that mud in the primary. I won't mind seeing him go after Van Hilleary and Bryant.

2. The beginning to end comment led me to believe that it'll
continue upon whoever the Dem nominee happens to be. Somehow I just don't think that this will be directed solely at Bryant or Van Hilleary.

4. I think
he didn't have to go that low. He has a pretty decent record as mayor and is pretty popular. He could've won without that dirtyness.

5. Corker trails in the poll I've seen

The only poll I've seen shows Ford and Bryant neck and neck.

3. That's sad
I thought Corker was better than that. :( I'm really disappointed. He was a pretty good mayor. I'm sad with that. :(

7. corker a moderate rethuglican?

I thought Corker was the most moderate of the three rethugs vying for the seat. But now he doesn't seem so moderate.
