Pennsylvania's Oldest Job Creation Program
I just discovered Pennsylvania bosts the longest running and most successful job creation program in the country. In 1696, Philadelphia County had the first public road. This means that the first pothole came shortly thereafter, employing at least three people to patch it, and at least one person to fix the wagon wheels.

In the modern era, pothole patching still employs at least three directly to fix the hole, not counting annual repaving, as well as the people required for new tires, front-end alignments, and the insurance industry.

So be sure to thank PennDot today for your job. A pothole today means at least six jobs tomorrow...

The only state that has worse roads is maybe Louisiana, and their excuse is soft sediment. hmmm... even states without toll roads are better than PA. I guess that's we get for having the first turnpike, railroad, oil well, and canal in America.
