2. Cool! (I think.)
That's a heavy-duty name in PA. The fact that he's pro-life instantly puts Santorum at a disadvantage. He's progressive in every other way, as I recall, and even the pro-life bit he wore pretty lightly. Didn't shove it down your throat, I mean. Course, my memories are from the 80s, so he could feel more emboldened now. But still, light years better that Mr. Man on Dog. We gotta shot here.

4. I could be wrong...but
I think you are thinking of Robert Casey Sr in the 80's (He was Gov.)...the guy running against Santorum would be his son Bobby Casey Jr....

5. I remember when he came to our ward meeting (the son)
I was a committeeperson then. I don't know if he was running for something or was campaigning for his dad. I can't recall the details, but I just remember him joking about their large family...he knew he was in Philadelphia making a pitch for support...the politics weren't an exact match, but he gave us the impression that we were all Democrats...that he was a Democrat through and through, and that his first allegiance was to the party.

Again, I don't know if the intervening 20 years have changed things, and there is that west-east thing in PA...but I have the gut-feeling that he can be trusted. Don't know if it's b/c I think of him as being old-school Dem...or if it's the Irishness :) ...and maybe I'm just talking through my hat, but I feel good about this matchup.

3. I'm not too found of Casey BUT anyone is better than SANTORUM
I thought for a moment that he is the Politician who drags out the photo of his (6-7) kids him and his wife every year and I begin thinking that photo says vote for me because my (you- know- what)works. I really HATE those kinds of Campaigns.

Anyways GO CASEY

6. Have any of you heard Casey speak???
This is important...what were your impressions when you heard him speak?

I heard him speak three years ago and he is a very poor public speaker. I shudder to think of how he would debate Santorum. I hope that if Casey is the candidate that he will be better than he was before...

7. we could do better-I'm just saying

Want to learn about some of Casey's positions? Look how he answered
these questions in 2000 when running for Auditor General of PA:

http://www.pacatholic.org/election%20archive/gen00adg.htm

with choice hanging by a thread he is a huge disappointment to me!
I would work my heart out for Hoeffel who was turning into a very good candidate last election - I feel I have been there before with Bob Casey - and unless he has become more of a JFK catholic candidate-
he leaves me wanting - just one woman's opinion
