State Sen. Bob Regola Facing Charges
Sen. Bob Regola will be arraigned tomorrow morning on the following charges: 3 counts of perjury, 3 counts of false swearing, 1 count of possession of a firearm by a minor and 1 count of recklessly endangering another person

Mary Berecky
Reporting

(KDKA) GREENSBURG The Westmoreland County district attorney's office filed today charges against State Senator Bob Regola in connection with the death of his teenaged neighbor.

Earlier this month, the Westmoreland County coroner ruled the death of Louis Farrell, 14, a suicide. Farrell was found dead behind his Hempfield Township home last July with the senator's guy nearby.

Now, District Attorney John Peck is pursuing charges against Regola.

2. He will lose his senate seat if he is found guilty of perjury per WTAE
news this morning. Regola is a cretin. He got money from the national Republican party and used it to run a really filthy campaign back in 2004. It was reported just last week that he was planning to run for reelection. Sounds like that may not be an option.

3. They may charge the son as well
Mr. Peck said no other adults would be charged in the matter, but he indicated the probe into the death of Louis A. J. Farrell is continuing. He would not address whether the senator's son, Robert "Bobby" Regola IV, 17, might face juvenile charges.

I hope Regola is forced to give up his seat. Anyone here know what the state law is on replacing a state senator? Special election? Does Rendell get to name an interim replacement or a replacement to serve out the term or is there another procedure?

6. the open seat
remains vacant until a special election can be held.

This happened most recently when Sen. Robert Thompson passed away a little over a year ago. The seat was vacant until the spring 06 primary, when Andy Dinniman was elected as the first Dem from Chester County since the Civil War. He was sworn in a few weeks later.

4. DA doubting it's a suicide
Edited on Wed Mar-28-07 05:15 PM by RamboLiberal
Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck says he’s not sure why Farrell’s death was ruled a suicide.

“This was a well-loved, well-adjusted young man,” he says “It's somewhat dumbfounding to conclude that this was a suicide.”

WPXI is reporting charges are going to be filed against the son Bobby Regola IV.

What a piece of work Bob Regola is. A complete 180 from former State Senator Kukovich.
