Ohio Democrat sets sights on party's nod for governor

OTTAWA, Ohio - As a Democratic candidate for governor, Congressman Ted Strickland wanted his audience to know first and foremost that he spent his childhood along Duck Run, a dirt road in Lucasville, Ohio.


"Anyone know who else grew up on Duck Run?" he asked the crowd at Putnam County's Glandorf Rod and Gun Club during a recent Sunday afternoon meal.

An older gentleman, one of about 300 according to the plate count, cautiously raised his hand. "Roy Rogers."

A September poll by Zogby Interactive gives each candidate about 43 percent of the vote in a head-to-head election against Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, the poll's top Republican candidate for governor.

hmmm...poll shows the fraudmeister beating either dem, albeit by a razor thin margin. I know I have ignored a few zogby survey requests during the current year.

It is probably safe to say both parties (dems & repubs) are within grabbing distance of each other, no matter who is leading at the moment.
