Taft hires criminal lawyer
Gov. discloses golf outings

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft has hired one of Columbus' leading criminal lawyers, his spokesman said Tuesday - the same day Taft disclosed that he had failed to report golf outings in which he had participated.

Spokesman Mark Rickel said Taft has hired William Meeks, a high-profile lawyer in Columbus who often handles government ethics cases, and who deals only in criminal-defense cases.

Taft's statement - issued after 6 p.m. on a day when the House and Senate passed the state's two-year budget - did not say whom the golf outings were with.

The admission comes during a growing scandal at his administration's Bureau of Workers Compensation.

2. There must be more dirt ready to surface.
Otherwise, I would think he'd just hang on for dear life and let the repubs come to his rescue. After all, he did DELIVER Ohio. They owe him, right?

Hmmm, aren't most lawyers who deal with the repub party criminal? :)

3. Hey! He did NOT deliver Ohio.

Remember who promised to deliver Ohio? A Diebold executive. Now, if HE gets in hot water, I guarantee you the GOP will get him out.

5. Ha ha! That is the greatest headline I've seen in a long time.
It could only be better if it said "Taft Hires Johnnie Cochran."
