Educate Ohio--Campaign to improve Ohio schools' funding
They have a petition campaign to change funding from property-tax-based to a broader position. This is akin to what Michigan did a few years ago.

1. I would go for trying all sorts of new ways.
I do hate people to say only home owners pay for the schools. Where do they think the people who rent out houses get the money to pay their tax? I had that happen once when a lady next door came and told me I was education my children on her tax. I had to tell her. My rent pays for the owner to pay for his tax plus the Govt. also gives the school money for my children to go to that school. I am letting your children get educated because of my being here.Guess what, the lady hated my guts.

2. Your landlord may be paying *more* in property taxes than she
I recall that when I owned a house, I got a "homestead" exemption that lowered my property tax. Further, if a homeowner is a senior, they get even lower rates. I would expect that your landlord is considered a business and gets none of those exemptions/deductions/whatever they are called.

3. petition drive
I have been helping this organization get signatures for their petition. One of the organizers came to the Cuyahoga Falls Democratic Club last month. At least the way he decribed it, it sounds like a good idea.
