Emergency information ...
My parents live in Logan County, OH ... they've been without power since Wednesday morning because of the ice storm, and there's flooding and downed trees and power lines all over in that area, I hear. I'm heading up that way this evening (flying into Dayton), and I'm just wondering if anyone knows of road closures between Dayton and Bellefontaine (I-70 E and S.R.68 N)? I'm having trouble finding any of that information online. Thanks.

5. Thank You ...
That was very helpful ... only one road closed due to flooding this morning (according to this website). I will call state troopers before I depart Atlanta to get a more up-to-date report. Thanks again.

3. OMG...Bellefontaine...
That sure brings back happy memories...my brother was stationed there many years ago while he was in the Air Force. He married a local girl there and I have spent many a weekend in that lovely town.

4. That MUST have been many, many years ago ...
There used to be an air force base there when I was a kid. It was closed long ago and is now the location of a small, unknown technical "college".

It is a nice area, though, I agree ... although quite conservative, politically. Have you been to Zanesfield? That's the town I lived in when I was growing up.

6. I don't think I have...
ever been, or heard of, Zanesfield. We used to visit my brother when we lived in Indianapolis so I remember driving I-70 to 68N but don't recall a Zanesfield. My brother's son is now a cop in Columbus and they moved from Bellefontaine to Marysville back in the early 80's.
Do you remember an auto dealership in B'fontaine called Hildreth Auto Sales?

7. Don't Remember Hidreth ....
Unless you are real familiar with the area, you wouldn't know of Zanesfield - it is off the beaten path. It is very near the ski slopes (Mad River Mtn. ... used to be Valley High), and you pass it on St. Rt. 33 as you're heading East towards Marysville. My sister lives in Marysville, and that is where I was born and spent the very early years of my life. Marysville's claim to fame, of course, is Honda ... the biggest employer in the two counties (Logan and Union)

9. Mad River Mtn....
Isn't that the highest point in OH ? I also remember a large Scott's factory in Marysville. I am headed to Columbus (UGH) next week to see my nephew and a new grand-niece!! Gotta get them outta that hellish state.

10. Actually, the highest point in Ohio is at the old Air Force base ...
...right outside Bellefontaine. Yes, Scott's still owns a big chunk of the town of Marysville ... that's where my brother-in-law contracted his lung condition that eventually became lung cancer ... thank you Scott's.

12. I am so sorry...
for your sister's loss..I refuse to use Scott's, or anyone else's chemicals on my lawn and flowerbeds, I use only qrganic products such as rabbit food (alfalfa) and maybe some lime to condition soil Ph...I HATE SCOTT'S!! BTW my brother worked for VOA (Volkswagen of America) in Marysville and he loved his job. He passed away from Colon-Rectal cancer before his 60th Birthhday...I really miss him!!

11. And here's a link to the weather section of
WHIO TV which is also the official weather site for "The Dayton Daily News."

http://www.whiotv.com/weather/index.html

On this morning's TV news I saw some interviews from Bellefontaine --and they kinda warmed the old cockles of my heart . . . seems there were a lot of Good Samaritans who helped their neighbors during this storm. A grocery store had very few supplies, but employees came to work, with flashlights, so they could point out the small inventory to their customers.

Damn, these people sound like DEMS to me -- I still can't understand why they voted the way they did.
