Ted will be in trouble
If the economy weren't in trouble and if the unemployment rate was low, the Repubs would have had an uphill battle trying to take over Columbus.

When the voters are generally happy they return incumbents to office.

But as things stand today, the repubs will have very little difficulty retaking the Governorship and the Ohio House. They already control the Ohio Senate.

We are likely to retain majorities in the US house & senate after Nov 2010, but Ohio may be a different story.

This morning the powerful republican election machine, a model of high efficiency, is grinding away at full speed.

Letters, emails & phone calls are being sent to donors & would be donors everywhere, touting their success at retaking Kennedy's senate seat.

If you were a republican this morning, wouldn't you donate to overthrow the dems ?

By Feb 1st, when the democratic candidates are still yawning and thinking about running in the Nov election, the republican candidates' bank accounts are flush with funds from the fund-raising that is currently underway.

1. I Have To Tell You...
...that I don't think it matters who becomes Ohio's governor.

The state is a mess. The long term demographic trends are so negative and the people who run the place are so blatantly unwilling to accept significant change or invest in long term projects that I don't know if anyone can truly help them. I grew up there and when we go back, I almost want to cry.

4. I don't know about that. First of all the NRA should

back Strickland since he voted against the Clinton Assault Weapons Ban, Kasich vote for it. I suspect the NRA will at best sit it out, I think if put to the test they are more interested in backing Republicans than any 2nd Amendment, but they may prove me wrong. Second Strickland didn't vote for NAFTA and Kasich did, that should hurt Kasich bad. Third I think Strickland also voted against the IWR and of course Kasich voted for it. I think time has proven Strickland was right on that one too.

5. sorry to say, but that is all old news...
that was print worthy in 2006 & perhaps 2008.

People who don't have jobs or have family members facing job cuts don't care what you voted for & against.

It is called riding the wave of anti-incumbent dissatisfaction / disillusionment, it is irrational & illogical. But it sinks incumbents every time people are unhappy.

They pull the lever for the "OTHER GUY".
