2. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!

I just sent out 20 letters to Ohio women on Friday (got them from the MMOB) and they were identified as single women who didn't vote in the 2000 elections...I wrote heartfelt letters filled with lots of information and reasons they should vote....I included a "registration form" printed off the Ohio Sec. of State site and it was included with a stamped envelope for them. I printed the forms out (double sided) on regular "stock paper" (have no idea what weight)...but this is just unbelievable to think that every single one of those letters and the registration forms will not be "accepted"?

I'm so mad right now....this is unreal....I have a million things to do tonite, but I'm going to send some emails on this one....wow, this is so wrong and it just shows what is coming down the pike....

4. Just heard from my county party chairman...

He's also Chairman of the Board of Elections for Hamilton County. He says there's no way that the SOS can enforce this rule.

6. But he cannot un-enforce it... this is cover for any county level actors

who want more reasons to disqualify new registrations and it's Dem targeted, since people who register on forms cut out of newspapers are bound to be more Dem leaning. Officials in Repug counties can look through a stack of registrations and decide after the fact whether to enforce for paper weight based on the info on the forms.

It's not enough to not enforce it. Blackwell needs to order all counties to ACCEPT all registrations whatever the paper used.

9. Totally agree with you Troublemaker....

Blackwell, the Sec. of State of Ohio needs to issue a statement that says NO REGISTRATION FORMS (regardless of paper stock) are to be rejected by any voting office. Otherwise, there is the possibility of voter disenfranchisement, and this is very clearly an attempt to discourage and "scrub" possible voters in Ohio...

We all on the DU need to be on top of this....

8. I've let theMMOB know about this...with all the letters that we have sent

...to Ohio (including lots of thank you letters from recipients saying they will register to vote) the thought that the registration forms we sent in the letters (an official Ohio form) would not be accepted because it was sent on "regular stock" paper is outrageous...

The MMOB (Mainstreet Moms oppose Bush) will also join the "letter writing" to the media and Mr. Blackwell...You don't piss Moms off....

Don't Let Blackwell Deny The Vote To Ohio Citizens!

Dear Editor,

Please take action to protect the vote in Ohio, where the Secretary of
State Ken Blackwell is trying to refuse thousands of new voters the right to cast a ballot in the upcoming election‹based on the weight of the paper stock of their application.

This is wrong. Please shine your light on this dirty trick. And Blackwell should be censored for abusing his office by this trumped up partisan scheme.

The right to VOTE is the very heart of America. If the Secretary of State was doing his job, there wouldn't be so many unregistered people in Ohio to begin with. Our free press must protect us from this disenfranchisement.

Please help!
