1. He did come out pretty strong against CAFTA
and, embarassingly, I don't know a whole lot more about him, though I am in his district.......

2. Howard Coble is...
A dyed-in-the-wool rethuglikan.

He is Pro Bush all the way. The ONLY reason he voted against CAFTA is the disastrous result of NAFTA which caused NC to lose many many manufacturing jobs.

I will give him props for the way he responds to consituents, even those who are in opposition to his stances. He often replies personally.

He is also a huge supporter of Veterans. Also, I might suggest that you shop the letter around here to see if you can get a constituent to send it to him. I'm not one, though I have had dinner with him a few times through other reasons.

3. Coble is excellent at helping his constituents.
However, he can be a party man and support the party line.

I don't know much about him, though I know lots of local people who speak well of him. His reputation is generally very positive, but I really don't know much of his stands anyway.

It's just like our senators: people think well of them but don't know much of their stance on anything. It's almost like they're invisible, and only come into the limelight when something "local" happens and draws attention to something where they could possibly help out.
