Hateful TRASH I just received in my postal mail!
I found this DVD in my snail-mail today entitled "OBSESSION, Radical Islam's War Against the West"

WHAT KIND of hatemail is this and WHY am I getting it?

It's from:

The Clarion Fund
255 W. 36th Street
Suite 800
New York, NY 10018

The postmark says it's a "Non Profit Org"

I want to return it REFUSED but figure the post office will not take it back to them. I guess I just have to trash it.

1. My wife got one too
about 2 weeks ago. It quickly found it's way to the trash. We have no idea how she got on the list of someone sending that mess out, and figured her dad did it since it came a week or so after he told her on the phone that she was being brainwashed. He's a hardcore reThug.

From wikipedia....
Clarion Fund is a New York City-based nonprofit organization<1> founded in 2006 whose mission is "to educate Americans about issues of national security," with its main focus on what it calls "the most urgent threat of radical Islam."<2> The organization was founded by Israeli film producer Raphael Shore<3>. ...
The Fund has reportedly sent 28 million DVDs to at least 70 newspapers in swing states to place at the doorstep of newspaper subscribers.

2. Huh. I don't subscribe to any newspapers, this came in the mail..
...but others in my neighborhood say they received one in their local paper recently.

So, apparently they snail-mail them too. Jeeeze. Assault from the damn mailbox.

5. Allegedly the Clarion Fund shares offices with a right wing
Jewish group, Aish Ha Torah, which tries to convert secular or less observant Jews to their brand of orthodox Judaism.

http://www.truthdig.com/eartotheground/item/20080923_who_is_behind_the_radical_islam_dvd/?

Critics are calling the DVD, “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West,” anti-Muslim hate, or politicking, or both. It doesn’t mention or even obliquely allude to the presidential candidates. It couldn’t, since it was made in 2006. But as whisper campaigns dog Obama with rumors that he’s a secret Muslim, the DVD showed up as an insert in some 70 newspapers, with an emphasis in swing states.

snip

Clarion has connections to Aish HaTorah, a strongly pro-Israel Jewish educational organization promoting Jewish identity and pride. Aish HaTorah has offices in Israel and the U.S.

Clarion’s corporate filings in Delaware list the same address as Aish HaTorah New York. Clarion’s two directors in 2006 were Shore and Jacob Fetman, who served as Aish’s CFO. In 2007, the organization listed its directors as Shore, Henry Harris and Rebecca Kabat. Rabbi Harris is educational director at Aish HaTorah NY and Kabat has also worked for Aish.

snip

Aish’s Ephraim Shore has also been president of the organization HonestReporting.com, which, according to Aish’s Web site, helped to produce and promote Raphael Shore’s film.

7. I marked it "Return to Sender" and gave it to the mail lady.
I have no interest in watching it.

10. We received it a couple of weekends ago, too
and it quickly made its way to the bottom of the trash heap. If nothing else, they wasted their money sending us two copies (one for me, one for the bf). That DVD definitely took the cake on the hatemail we've received during this election year.

11. I keep getting crap from the John Locke Foundation.
I have written them asking to be removed. I have gone to their web site asking to be removed. Going to the web site caused me to get double the junk from them, btw. So, if anyone else is getting crap from the John Locke Foundation and doesn't want it, don't ask to be removed through their web site unless you want double junk.

I have not received the hateful mail you mentioned, yet. If I had gotten to you in time, I would have suggested that you write return to sender on it and send it back. They'll have to pay for that, if I am not mistaken.
