Gubernatorial candidates tackle NWC problem

By CHARLES S. JOHNSON
Gazette State Bureau

HELENA - The six major political party candidates for governor all have different ideas how they would handle the problems caused by the bankruptcy of NorthWestern Corp., parent company of NorthWestern Energy, which serves more than 300,000 Montana customers.

Whitehall Mayor Terry Ross, who works as an electrician for Luzenac America, asked this question of the candidates for governor: "If elected governor of the state of Montana, how would you deal with the bankruptcy of the NorthWestern Corp. and all of the problems that it has caused the state? By problems, I mean the drastic price increase and its effect on our daily lives that we are all dealing with."

The Gazette State Bureau forwarded Ross' question to the four Republican and two Democrats seeking their respective party's nomination in the June 8 primary election.
