The Jasper County Clerk is refusing to allow Obama volunteers,
staff, or anyone they know is connected with the Obama campaign to fill out voter registration applications, as I understand it.

There is an Obama office in Joplin.

2. "Instructions."
Proud, I need to tell you what else I found out, but I don't want to post it on the Net. Is there a PM feature here at DU? I don't seem to have one, or else I do have one but am too dumb to find it.

First is the journal button and the yellow envelope is to the right of it.

5. PLEASE contact Show Me The Vote !!
This is urgent!

PM me through the list with contact info for you.

Show Me The Vote !! has operated "Committees of Safety" since 2005. These independent councils have picked up a disturbing pattern of activity in certain areas of Missouri and is planning actions which are to be taken very soon.

Your description of Joplin's Board seems to fit into with the information which is being relayed to our political arm. Perhaps Joplin is an appropriate area to consider for a "Flying Squad", as was dispatched to St. Charles in 2006.

Please advise and I will attempt to forward this info to a Tactical Defense Team for evaluation.

6. What is the reason given? The Clerk operates out of Carthage's City Administration
Offices on the town square. I know this lady and would call her if I knew what was objectionable.

7. your local "Committee of Safety" response!
A local "Committees of Safety" representative close by Jasper County has checked this out.

County Clerk's office indicates they have a problem with having a small supply of registration forms available there locally. Suggestion from CC was for them to obtain more directly from SoS'Office.

Is this inaccurate?

If you have other problems, please advise. I sent you my direct contact email address.

8. I believe it is inaccurate.
The reason given to Obama people who attempt to obtain a registration app is "instructions were given not to provide an app."

9. Hopefully in Jasper County they'll be "encouraged" to obtain
more applications ..... but if that's the problem, why didn't they obtain more apps weeks ago? I don't know what the deadline for registering is ... will Jasper County get the apps in time once they request them?

15. Sources very close to this reported to me that it was because the person who obtained a bunch of
them, they did not see return them. It was as if they suspected fraud. There is no fraud because I have been collecting voter reg myself and turning them back into the office who take them in almost daily.

10. A temporary solution
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 02:19 PM by galloglas
Edit: for spelling

for the Joplin supply problem (or anywhere else in the state) would be to visit the Secretary of State's web site at

http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/register2vote/

Use this to download registration form on .pdf files and register that way.

I spoke to Sharon Deludche (sp?) who is covering those counties. She had not heard of any obstructiveness (so far) in any of the SW MO counties. I think that the CCs in those counties are just flat-out stunned that there is Democratic registration at the rates that apparently) are happening in SW Missouri and figured the 500 or so registration cards they had on hand were enough, since that is equal to about 5% to 10% of most counties population.

That said, tracking down the people in charge was a tough job and there is (IMHO) a great amount of confusion in the ranks. Consequently, we need to help these folks out when we can. It is certainly better to have volunteers out battling, even if they are flummoxed and less than battle-tested, than it is to have no one out there.

The Joplin Office number is 417-496-2459.

11. I was going to phone Robin Carnahan's office today but didn't have
time. Madeline Albright was at UMKC today and I didn't want to miss it, so most everything else didn't get done ... again!

12. I'm wondering if a downloaded app would be accepted
(the old "you used the wrong kind of paper!" trick), so that's why I should check with Carnahan's office, but I'll call Joplin tomorrow in any case.

I never would have realized you can download an app ... so thank you so very, very much for the information!

13. If you have any indication of this happening
please notify us immediately!

Show Me The Vote !! is starting a new program this coming Monday which is designed have each of the CCs and EDs make a flat declaration that they will do : a,b,c,x,y,z (you'll see the details Monday).

But one of those things is the acceptance of the .pdf registrations. We want their answers about all the a,b,c,x,y,z things immediately and hope that all you Missouri Patriots will join our effort to pry those answers out of them. The details of how you can help, and also interface with your colleagues around the state, will be spelled out at the new web site.

This could be the most effective ground roots effort ever directed at local authorities. Hopefully it will go viral, as all states could use the techniques... Hell, they could even piggyback on our website.

But keep watch for the most dangerous thing the GOP will do. Caging.

It is the game they plan to play and win. And they only need to have a few CCs or EDs complicit to pull it off in Missouri. Consequently, we have to find out which ones are. And, IMHO, Eastern Jackson County (not KC) will be the place that the election will be stolen from Obama. Unless we stop them.

14. How to obtain voter registration applications:
Applications can be obtained by requesting them from the SOS. The request must be made in writing or in an email.

Send an email to

[email protected]

After the applications are filled out, they can be faxed back to the SOS's office.

I phoned the Joplin office, reached an answering machine, and I left a message outlining this procedure.
