Contact McCaskill-let her know impeachment is on OUR table!
So I wrote a letter to our Senator a few days ago, requesting that she at least look into impeachment proceedings against the pretenders in our White House. This is the response I got:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: From the Desk of Senator Claire McCaskill
From: [email protected]_.gov
To: me (hey, I'm not leaving my email addy out here!)
Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2007 13:10:55 -0400

Dear Ms. Barnett:

Thank you for sharing your views regarding the impeachment of the President and Vice President. I appreciate hearing from you.

Like many Americans, I am disappointed with the direction that the Bush Administration has taken our country. The Administration has repeatedly misled Congress and the American public on issues critical to the safety and prosperity of our nation, such as using false intelligence to lead us into war in Iraq. At the same time, Congress over the last 6 years has failed to uphold its Constitutional duty to provide proper oversight of the Executive Branch.

Yes, this administration has made some serious mistakes and has lost credibility with the American people, but impeachment should be used in only the rarest of cases. Only twice in the history of our nation has Congress carried out impeachment proceedings in attempts to move a President from office, and in both cases the President was acquitted. This country was founded on the principle that the democratic process is the best means of choosing leadership - and that is done through the American people and their right to vote. American voters recently expressed their desire for a change in leadership by voting a Democratic majority into Congress. We now have much important work that must be done for America and impeachment proceedings would consume most of the time, resources, and energy of Congress with little likelihood of success.

As your Senator, I will continue to work with my colleagues to provide stronger oversight of this Administration. Since the 110th Congress began in January under Democratic leadership, already dozens of oversight hearings have been held on everything from the war in Iraq to the botched Federal response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

I will keep your thoughts in mind as Congress continues its important oversight role. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

All best,
Senator Claire McCaskill

So here's my response to her 'little likelihood of success' thingie:

Senator,

I don't think you understand or fully appreciate the damage Dick Cheney, George W. Bush and their cronies have caused our once-proud nation. If these two are not impeached, and promptly, then our nation is no longer what it once was.

We have laws that ALL must follow. None can be seen as above the law, and Bush/Cheney et al have behaved, for the past six and a half years, as though they ARE indeed above our laws. President Bush uses 'signing statements' to say he doesn't have to abide by the laws our legislative branch enacts. Congress and the American People were mislead about Saddam Hussein and his weapons capabilities. We've been lied to. Our Constitution is being trashed. Our rights are being trampled upon. If ever there was a time for impeachment, it is NOW.

Don't you remember why they impeached President Clinton? Because he lied about having an affair. I'm pretty sure none of our soldiers lost their lives over that lie, and yet, for the Republicans in control at that time, it was enough. Even when the American People did not agree.

I know that there are many other things of import going on in our nation and in the world at this time, but it is my belief (and I am not alone in this belief) that we cannot accomplish anything of value while a pretender controls our White House. This person has no respect for our government, our people, our lands, or our laws, nor does he respect the sanctity of human life. This cannot be allowed to stand.

Senator, I voted for you because we need a change for our nation, or our nation will be lost. The American People are behind you. We've got your back. Impeach these pretenders, or we will vote for those who have the spine to protect our nation, our Constitution, and our way of governance, and our very lives.

Sincerely,
Aundria M. Barnett
Vice President
Southwest Missouri Democracy for America

Now, I know that not everyone agrees with me on this, but please, if you think these morans in OUR White House need to be shown the door, contact YOUR Senator. After all, we hired her to do OUR work, right?

I am furious with her recent vote to give Bush the right to wiretap without warrants.

Upset that I maybe wasted my time voluteering for her in 2006. Here is what I sent to Representative Carnahan - and also sent to Claire - cause I think she needs to hear it as well.

Meg

(this was my letter to rep. Carnahan that I copied to Claire along with another letter I didn't copy and paste)
I wanted first, to thank you for voting against the recent bill that would allow President to continue his wire tapping without warrants. I am upset that it passed anyway, and dissappointed in Senator McCaskill for voting for it and have told her so, but glad at least my house representative voted to stand up to president Bush's belief that he can do anything he wants including possibly spying on americans without a warrant. Count me as one who believes that President Bush, Cheney and Gonzolas should be impeached, but am not holding my breath anymore that congress will do anything to hold them accountable for all the times they have broken the law in the past several years. I guess you can get away with anything if you are president whether it is legal or not, unfortunately and the voters can't do a thing about it no matter who they elect into office. It is appearing more and more like that, unfortunately. Even when you elect a Democratic majority to Congress they don't do anything to stop things like this. I guess I was too hopeful in 2006 that things would change. And I don't care that there is not a chance that the impeachment would get through the senate, it is important to send a message that it is wrong to break the law whether it gets through the senate or not if it is not true that a president can just do anything he want and get away with it - what was impeachment created for, if not a type of administration like this.
